You know, when the hole gets bigger and the shovel gets smaller and it seems impossible to dig yourself out? What do you do during those times that life seems so overwhelming and it truly seems like everything is messed up? How do you pull your emotions out? any ideas??

Well, I was very depressed a few years ago and it felt like I could not do anything to save myself. It sucks and I had to suffer from it for months. It feels like hell when you can't do anything. To make things worse, I had no one I could trust to share my feelings with. So during those days, I just looked for tons of entertainmen, like movies, music, internet, shopping, writing etc. But they were temporary solution. The real solution is to solve the problem.

Thanks for your comment. While I agree that the solution is to solve the problem, there is no easy solution to my situation. It just keeps piling up on me! I am sure some day it will end, but there's no button to push to make it all go away!

hi macdingolinger, I sometimes cry and in a lot of ways it makes me feel good and i was able to burst my feelings through tears.lolz I sometimes confide with my sister whenever I feel down and depressed because, she motivates me to be strong and she knows me really well and believed me from the start. But if I was like feeling depress without knowing any reason (I mean, I just encounter depression even I don't have any problem) I usually do the things that makes me happy like watching movies, playing games and shopping. I also eat food that helps fight depression like eating foods that are rich in omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin b6 which are known for serotonin production that helps us to be in the right mood. But overall, I think the best way is getting help with someone that really cares about you, talking with them on how you feel and telling the reason behind your depression might really help. Happy lotting!

Thanks for your input. I truly apprciate it! I don't have money to buy the right foods (actually part of the problem); I do not have friends here as I have not been here long; and I certainly can't shop right now. Tears don't wash anything away for me so I guess I'll try to find a mindless movie to watch! Thanks!!

I talk it out if possible with someone. But sometimes if I just need to lift my spirits I will get on my kareoke machine and just start singing, usually by the end of a good private kareoke session my spirits are lifted, or I will put on some 80's music an dance around the family room. I am always happiest singing and dancing so that usually works for me. Also taking a walk on a beautiful day can lift the spirits too.

I also have a long list of things that I do when depressed, well to attempt to get rid of the depression that is. Let's see: well first of all I'll avoid all negativity whether it's negative people, news or anything that might make me feel worse. There are so many negative people or those emotional vampires out there that will try to squeeze the life out of you, particularly when you're depressed. One of the best things I find to do when depressed is to exercise, whether it's going to your gym, swimming, a nice hike or yoga, all are great stress relievers. I'll also try to find some kind of funny movie to watch and really engross myself in that. Another thing might be a really good book that I can also get lost in. I just want to mention that I read a lot of positive self help books which I find are great for getting rid of "the blues", or anything by Esther Hicks on the teachings of Abraham is wonderful. I might even meet a friend for lunch or coffee and that can sometimes help to lift the cloud of depression of you. Being around animals is quite good for depression too. I admit I only have a cat, which I suppose can sometimes be referred to as an emotional vampire because while they're sweet animals, they do also have their selfish side and are all about them. ;)But anyway I'll play with the cat for a while or a friend's dog and that sometimes will really help. I admit I'm one of those people that really don't like to cry, so crying for me would be an absolute last resort.

Yeah, I don't buy the crying thing either. It's like, you cry and then when you are done, nothing chaged except now your eyes look like you haven't slept in a year and your nose is running. I did go for a run today. That does seem to help me a little bit sometimes. I may try a movie or a book. I don't really have any friends here so that's out. Too many changes too fast for me!

I have a bunch of ways to get out of depression. First, I pray to God to help me to see the way out of the mess. Second, I will sit and watch a good movie and munch out. Third, I will have a good cry that usually helps me to releave the stress. Fourth, I take my mind off of the reason for the depression by reading a book. That will make you escape your life for a little while and enjoy the travel that you experience while reading a good book. Then if all fails I pray again. May God Bless you and keep you safe.

Thanks for your input, I appreciate it. I always pray that's my number one! But that doesn' always make a situation better or make it go away. I may try reading. I can't munch out because I don't even have money to purchase any "comfort foods!" I'll try the book later! Thanks!

That's a tough one. I have been depressed a couple of times before but never to a point of no return. I usually just bum out, play computer games (it is a therapy that everyone overlooks), watch movies, call my friends and schedule a get together etc. I don't usually speak about my problems. They just fix themselves most of the time. I usually just need company so I don't get crazy over them.

I don't have any video games, but I have a couple of mindless computer games I use to fill time! I don't have friends here so that's out. I don't usually share my troubles either. That may be why it all starts boiling up inside sometimes. I am just in a more tense than usual time in my life! Thanks for your input!
