Hey mylotters! This is a discussion which is open for all opinions and answers. Please be honest about your answers. I personally hate rain because you can't do any outdoor activities when it's raining. Also, when it rains, the temperature goes down and gets colder and not to mention the deaths caused by heavy rainfall in some countries and floods and other horrible things. So my question for you is: Do you like rain? How often does it rain in your country?

I love rain. I think it's beautiful. And rain never stopped me from going outdoors, in fact I am more likely to go out in the rain than the sunshine. I love dancing around in rain, running in rain, and walking in rain. Sunshine's just boring in comparison. I believe the best kind of rain is the kind where the sun manages to break through the clouds. All the drops turn golden. It's simply stunning. Yeah, people can die because of too much rain, but people can die in any sort of weather. Too much sunshine causes things like drought and heatstroke. We need a balance of both sun and rain to be able to survive. We get about 16 to 32 inches of rain annually in my state.

Hi Borg I don't mind the rain at all if its a little here and there I don't however, like heavy downpours monsoon like downpours but we do need the rain especially in the spring and summer its a corny cliche` but April flowers do bring May flowers As long as its not to the point where flooding takes place a bit of rain every now and then is just fine by me

We originally moved to Florida because I loved the rain storms there. The sun would shine up until about three o'clock and then the clouds would move in. Thunder and lightning crashed all around and the rains came, but only for an hour or so. Then the sun would come out again. I used to grab a fresh cup of coffee and lay out on our lanai to watch the daily spectacle. Hurricane rains I don't particularly care for, but was willing to take them, too, to live in a little piece of paradise. What I don't understand is the people who get flooded every year but refuse to move to higher ground. Or, on the other hand, those that risk being burned out every year, but stay in harm's way. In our part of Florida, we almost had a safe haven in that the hurricanes would almost have to U-turn to get to us. Most traveled on to Louisiana, Texas or Mexico, with occasional hits in Mississippi or Alabama. We barely had palm fronds blow off the trees.

I know what you mean, too much of it can be depressing. It makes it harder to go out and do things. I just really enjoy the sound of it quite a bit.

Hi borg: It's funny because i actually love rain, i mean not heavy reains but soft rains. I love to walk while a slowly rain is falling. I get excited and say, oh it's raining the i smile just like a kid. I really enjoy rain, in my country it rains the average i think, at some point of the year it rains almost everyday but in summer it seldom rains. Basically i don't think about those reasons you think when you watch the rain. On the other hand, it's always good to sleep while it's raining. Thanks for opening this discussion. Have a nice day.

Hello again,borg246! Hmm i hate rain for the same reason like you..I can`t go outdoor and its a bit boring staying at home..But sometimes i like the rain for this reason - i don`t go to school (party)..But i hate when it rains on christmas because it makes the snow wet and we can`t do anything with it..But anyway the best reason i can "create" for that because i hate rain is that nobody is on the street and i cannot hang out with friends :( Happy day - joro1best

I don't mind rain at all. In fact sometimes walking out in it can be quite refreshing. However... We have had more than enough to last a lifetime here in the UK, so I don't mind if I don't see any more for quite some time! - Derek

I LOVE the rain. I am sitting here listening the rain come down on my roof (it sounds like meat sizzling on the grill) and working on the computer. I relate rain to Christmas! I have lived in California for most of my life and in the area I live in we don't get snow too often, but we get rain for Christmas season. So, when it rains I always think Christmas. If I am not working on the computer, I am doing art work during the rain. It seems to sooth my soul and brings out the artist in me. Plus it is wonderful for my plants and garden. Also it cleans the air so wonderfully (I have asthma and clean air is so wonderful to breathe in) and the sky is such a beautiful shade of blue when the clouds leave. We have had heavy rains like you mention, but I live on a hill and we haven't had any mud slides or deaths because of the rain...fortunately.

Hello borg246. You have a very good point with heavy rain, it can be very dangerous for many people in different countries. I am from P.a. in the United States so, we really don't have heavy rains that have flooded our area and done fatal damage. I suppose we are fortunate for that. I however, enjoy rain. Not when it continues for days and days and is accompanied by a lot of lightening and thunder. But, the rain that is more gentle. I like to hear it on the windows and tapping on the roof at night, it gives off a "serene" type feeling. I also enjoy those little "sun showers" that we get in the summer while it is sunny out and it rains lightly and just for a bit. When I was a child, I would love to be outside playing in the rain when those occured. I also enjoyed stepping in the puddles after a good rain. But, now that I am older, I do not really like those puddles anymore!

Personally, I like a light rain where it is cool and breezy. I HATE stormy rain that is accompanied by hail, lightning, thunder. I am such a nervous a paranoid person and am afraid of a terrible storm. [we all witnessed the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina] But every now and again, a good rain cant hurt. We NEED the rain. I can remember playing in it as a kid and running through the neighborhood with friends. I usually only get cranky when I have makeup on and my hair is done and I am going somewhere important [lol] But sometimes it is good to let loose and play in the rain! =]

Hey, I live in England, not exactly renowned for great weather! To answer your question, I absolutly love the rain. I just love watching it through the window, or when i'm out in the car, I just love the sound of it and I love watching it, it's quite mesmerising! Lee.

I don't mind the rain, as long as it doesn't rain every day. I would REALLY hate rain this time of year, since it's winter here and when it rains, technically it snows. And I HATE snow. I like rain when it's just a light sprinkle, or when the crops need it. As far as I'm concerned it could rain once a week and I wouldn't be disappointed. I agree, however, that in some places it rains too much, and can cause the destruction of many lives. My boyfriend, who is from the east coast of the USA [I live in the midwest] has been through two terrible floods, and once it destroyed his family's home. He saved his dog though. =] I believe some places could use a little more rain, and other places could use a little less. But everyone needs the rain for something.

I love rain but i don't like the thunders and lightning. I remember one time it was raining heavily and my family including my parents went out to play outside. It was so much fun...I even took out my shampoo and wash my hair outside, we had lots of fun that day.

I love the rain as long as I have shelter from it when I've had enough of it. When I was really young, I loved going out in the rain with shorts on and just getting completely soaked. I've always found the sound of rain very soothing and it helps me sleep. I grew up in Seattle so that may have something to do with it. When I moved away from Seattle, my friend gave me a CD that had the sound of rain.. I used to play it every night before going to sleep.

I don't mind the rain during the warmer months, because that's when we need the rain the most. I just can't stand it when it's cold, because it just makes everything worse. The think the worst part of rain is when it drizzles, it makes driving a chore, because you have to keep the wipers on. We have spells of a lot of rain, then we have our dry spells that can last longer, especially during the summer months.

rain can be nice if you are indoors at the time. it can be cozy and romantic, if you have relaxing in your warm bed with lots of pillows and blankets as you read a good book or magazine. or, maybe relaxing on the couch while sipping hot cocoa and watching your favorite show on tv. or, just cuddling on the couch with blankets and your pets while watching tv or reading. it doesnt really rain too much in my area, in southern california. so, once in a while, it is nice and seasonal. since southern cal doesnt get snow, pouring rain or rainstorm give fall and winter a seasonal feel. it is nice if it is not too much or doesnt create flash flooding or other problems.

Hi, borg246. Yes, I like the rain. It rains almost once a month. The rain is very cold especially during the winter. I love when it rains during the summer. When it does, all of the cool air comes straight through the fan. This is a great cooling element.

I really like only in the summer time when it is very hot outside(80 or above) to cool things off. The only problem is most of the time makes the air become muggy with the humidity getting outrageous.... other than that no I definitely do not like it in the winter and I really hate driving in it. I have had a few close calls because people do not realized they have to be careful when driving in the rain.
