Do you think that Obama should have gotten the Nobel prize?

Hi Folks. Several days ago Obama received the Nobel peace prize consisting of a beautiful gold medallion and over a million Euros. Do you think that Obama deserved to get the Nobel peace prize? What did Obama ever do to get it? At least when my cousin Teddy Roosevelt got the Nobel peace prize it was for helping to stop the Russian Japanese war.

Lol, first time in history the peace prize was given in anticipation of something they hoped he would acomplish. Just change the name of the award now to the "Nobel Peace Incentive" I find it ineresting that in the acceptence speech in Oslo, he used the word "war" 44 times. Not that i disagree with his speech, I think it's the most balls he has shown since he was elected and one of the rare times I was in agreement with him. It was just an odd contradiction.

I can not think of anything that Obama has done to help humanity. I would have given the Nonel Peace Prize to anyone who gave money to charity instead of Obama.

The speech sounded very much like something Bush would have given. He even alluded to bush doctrine of premptive defense.

I actually didn't listen/read the speech but its interesting that you say that considering its been noted he doesn't like using the word war and hates to say we are dealing with a war on terrorism. Complete opposite from Bush but I wonder if he's doing it now because he's sending troops over and not getting them out.

In all honesty no I don't think he deserved the Nobel Peace Prize. In his 1st year of Presidency what has he really lived up to? Gays still aren't allowed in the military, he's sending more troops over, the economic recession isn't getting any better, and we're going more and more in debt. I think if they really wanted to give it to him they should of given him a few years in office and had those years really mean something instead of making this country worse off.

I really do agree with you about Obama. Our country is more in debt and have a lot less jobs since Obama got into office. All Obama has really done is support late term abortion, where babies are torn apart and killed. These are not things that Obama should be honored for doing.

Who said that gays are not allowed in the military? I know that gays aren't necessarily treated the best, but there is no law or rule that says that gays can't be in the military. Obama is sending more troops to Afghanistan to get the job done once and for all which is what is needed. If he doesn't do it now, we'll just end up back over there in a few years. I will agree with you on the problem of the debt. Obama's spending is out of control and he just doesn't seem to understand that throwing money at the problem doesn't fix a problem. But, I must say that Congress is responsible for this as well because they are approving anything Obama wants.

Have you ever heard of the don't ask, don't tell policy. My ex boyfriend went into the Marines and he said that if they knew you were gay they were going to discharge you on that basis.

It's a total puzzle to me as to what Obama got the Nobel peace prize for doing. He hasn't been president long enough to have accomplished anything, and he's the head of a country that's involved in two wars, one of which is escalating. I think that by deciding to give him the prize the committee made a mockery of what was once a prestigious award.

Yes I wish that they had not given Obama the award. I admit that I do not like Obama, but I do not see anything that Obama has done to deserve getting the award.

I agree with you that Obama not have gotten the Nobel prize. What do you think Obama will do with the big check for getting the Nobel prize?

Winning the Nobel Prize did come with quite an impressive monetary benefit of well over one million dollars, I believe. I believe that I heard he is going to give the money he won to charity. If that is the case, it will be interesting to see which charity (or charities) he gives it to. I honestly do not see how he has earned the Nobel Prize. When has a person ever won this prize for things that they were anticipated to do? It just sounds ridiculous!

I have a doubt to it. I don't think Obama has some methods to cease the war. I know he is still sending out armies. I love China

I do not know how the war will end. To end the war we need to change the views of the people over there.

Not a chance!!!I think the only people that know why Obama got this award are the people that give it out.Everyone that has ever received this award should be appalled.Obama wasn't even in office when the award was voted on.

I have never received this award but I also am appalled that Obama got the award. I do not feel that obama deserves to be on the same list of Nobel Peace recepients as Mother Teresa.

Not at all. I think it is way too early in his political career to determined whether or not he deserves a nobel prize. I think that one should have to earn it before they receive it, not receive it, and then earn it. I also think that less politicians should get it, since so many have gotten it already. It's starting to look rather one-sided.

I really do agree with you. Let us give the Nobel prize to people who have really already earned it by helping people.
