I finally quit my job!

Canada
December 13, 2009 5:51pm CST
I told everyone for MONTHS that I was finally going to do it. And I did it. I'm happy, I'm excited and I feel GREAT! I'm not looking for any comments on how I made a mistake. I didn't. I was being treated like garbage. Ohh I'm just excited and I'm sharing with those of you who read my discussion about quitting before. [:

I didn't read your last discussion but I don't blame you for quitting if it was really wearing you down. I've quit jobs like that before, and it's always a real load off right after. Are you going to take a few days to rest before finding another one, or do you have another one lined up?

Well, all I can say is that I admire your courage in quitting a job in these hard economic times. If you were being treated like garbage, then I feel that you made the right decision. I just hope that you can find something else soon if you need the money. But if you don't need the money, then it must mean you're rich, so can you send some my way?! Good luck!

Lol, I'm far from rich. :) I moved back in with my mom a little while ago because my boyfriend and I broke up. I'm only 19 so I'm not really in a HUGE rush to find another job right away. GOnna wait till the new Year before I start looking. :)

Well, good luck still! I hope you have a better Christmas experience than what this year has brought you, being treated as garbage, and breaking up, and all.

what is the point of going to work every day if you are being treated badly? my hubby was in a situation like that and they finally let him go. stress is a horrible thing and can do a lot of bad things to your body.

I didn't read your discussion before, but congratulations! I'm sure this is opening your life up to an amazing new chapter, which is definitely exciting to say the least! People always seem to think that quitting your job is a mistake - and while I can understand the conception that you MUST be bringing in money at all times, is it ever worth giving up your dignity for it? Not so much. Maybe to some people. Anyway, congratulations!

I felt the same thing 2 months ago... I am so afraid at first to quit my job because I have a son to feed and i don't have any other source of income.. but I couldn't take it anymore so I just said GOOD RIDDANCE to the company I worked with. I don't have any regrets at all! I turned my back and never looked back... IT FELT AWESOME! LOL

Hey Hi, Well Its up to you, but in this time it's hard to find a job for many people.

You'd think that but it's quite easy to find a job here. Atleast for a student. I'm not too worried about looking just yet. I'm not gonna go jump up at the opportunity to find a job. I have a lot of medical problems that need tending to before anything. lol

Enjoy your rest or rather time off work. Its important to recharge, then go back to work after a few months. I do this often, it doesn't look good on my resume but I don't mind.

I dint read your discussion before and was about to luanch into a discussion about the mistake you made at this time .However I ownt do that because sometimes its the best move you can make .Sometimes you cant let people treat you like garbage and sometimes this is the time when better offers will come up or who knows you may even be able to come up with a job of your own .Many of us ,myself included are too scared to try something new and hence will never find out the possibilities that exist

free from stress - Quitting your job made you feel good
Hi katisaurus! I honestly did not read your post regarding your plans of quitting your job before... However, I understand why you are happy about your decision. I also believe that, if you are not happy with what you are doing, then there is no point of staying and pushing yourself into it. You will not excel on it, for your heart and mind is not on it. Secondly, if you were not treated fairly by that company-- you just made a good decision of leaving. You will never be productive on your work for you are felt degraded and were not properly motivated. I know exactly what you mean... You are happy for you feel like the bone which is giving you pain is finally out in your chest... what a relive... You are finally free from stress. Good luck to your job hunting.

If you are happy then that is what counts. I don't know your story or situation so I am sure not going to pass judgment on you. I know you should not have to put up with being treated disrespectfully from anyone. It sounds as if you thought it out and made the choice that is right for you. Best of luck to you!
