Why do we do things that others told us not to do?

It happened sometimes, we are warned but still do things that others told us not to do. What do you think is the reason behind this attitude? I know the answer is very simple, but I just want to have your thoughts.

It is ones innermost desire to do something that ignores advice from others. That desire overpowers everything else. Also what others see is not the same as what the one who wants to fulfil his/her desire sees.

Hi Full! It is very simple – the saying goes like this - ‘forbidden fruits are sweater’, however, such is the human tendency that one wishes to perform those tasks, which have been banned. One wants to enter that room where it is written – “Out of bonds”. I think one’s curiosity to explore the unknown vistas provokes him/her to perform those tasks, which are forbidden either by the Society or by the law.

Hello fulltank I think that all comes down to the saying...you must fall on your own. While we know that these things are wrong we need to experience them ourselves. Just almost like you know the pan is hot but you tend to touch it anyway. If we get burned then we are taught that little lesson and don't do it again as opposed to someone else telling us and not really knowing the full effects..

Hi Fulltank,So far in my life i try to do things only if it's good.Although it is normal to a person to do things being warned to, it is their choice to do that.In my heart I am really a God Fearing person.I wont do things that can makes me guilt as much as i can...Any way,If it is written in the bible, i will heartily follow. Thanks,Good Luck!

There can be many reasons why people may do forbidden things. For instance, it may be done to satisfy curiosity; kind of "teenage rebellious" attitude -- how dare someone forbid me from doing some things; not wanting to appear submissive by obeying the dictate, etc. Well, skillful people forbid others in skillful ways that does not arouse any of these responses.

That is very common. I have done many things after my friends saying not to do it. It is because I have my personal opinion on many things and want to do what I want to do and what I think is good for me to do. I hate it when people compell me to do or not to do things. They are welcome to give their suggestions, but we should not force anybody to do anyting, especially when it comes to their personal matters.
