It's the anniversary of the Wright Brothers' flight at Kitty Hawk in 1903. Also, my daughter's birthday, which is beside the point. A pretty important date in history, since it, as well as other early flights, led us to the aviation travel that we currently take so much for granted. End pompous speech. Can you think of other important dates and/or experiments that had such a major impact on our modern way of life?

Daughter told me to dress up and I did with earrings, perfume and a new top with black pants and high heels. He came 2 hours ago and has not been able to find fault as he walked all over the grounds. Actually complimented me on how ell the place is looking. Must be the Christmas spirit as he said that is best friend is coming. SI know the friend an inbred weirdo Brit aristocracy. Anyway, they will soon be here and he is leaving tomorrow so I am breathing easier. He's only called 11 times since arriving just under 3 hours ago!

Happy Birthday to Dearra (loved the name) and thanks for sharing the historical significance of the day. It's indeed a very important date. I have always been bad with dates and right now, I can't really think of one.

yes it was indeed an important date. I dont know the exact dates when some medical person discovered bacteria and medications to fight those diseases. or the saulk polio vacine that saved a lot of people from getting polio. oh there are so many important dates like Pasteur and pasteurizing milk, we are really fortunate for so many of these discoveries. and we pretty much take it all forgranted too. even Edison and our lovely electric lights in our homes and all our electrical things that we feel we must have. thanks to them all.

I remember reading a book about Pasteur in third grade (in fact, I still have the book). Pretty incredible that he was able to figure out what was causing those diseases and find a way to prevent them!

Yes, it was ended a very memorable day to me. That date will lived in my memory for as long as I live. It brings back sad memories again. It was the date I discovered I was nothing but a deadly amoeba. There's a man whom I got to close for the past three years, we're on the stage of mutual understanding, though the situation greatly disturbed me and made me bothered every now and then, I didn't bring the topic every time we talked because I don't want to aggravate the situation more, so I said nothing and just close my eyes hoping one day everything will be clear. And that one day arrived, one fine morning on the 17th day of December, I discovered he had a girlfriend a month ago and everything in my surroundings turned into a jigsaw puzzle that it feels like I was going to die. It was impossible to imagine the pain I was feeling. That night we talked and I suffered a badly battered self-esteem with his arrogant words. December 17 will forever reminds me of his blatant exploitation, his user-nature and his rudeness.

Just remember that the problem is HIM and not you. I hope that will help you move past it and find a more healthy relationship.

Happy Kitty Hawk anniversary, and happy birthday to your daughter. Today is my twin sister and brother's birthday, too, so up with Dec. 17th! Oh wow, so many dates/events/inventions have had an impact for good or ill on our lives. I cannot remember each date, but some things of import: Discovery of anti-biotics, fire, electricity, water power, steam power, nuclear power Inventions: wheel, sewing machine, phone, cotton gin, steam boats and engines, technology of all kinds ...and a bazillion other things and people.
