How many of you got the flu shot? Now that they are available for all I don't know if we need them. We were not even able to get the regular flu shots this year and that worries me a little.

It just hasn't been available. We were told that the same labs were making both and since they were so worried about the swine flu they were behind on the regular one. I'll keep looking for it.

I got a flu shot once, years ago, when I had to have one to keep my job. That's the only flu shot I have ever had. I've only had the flu once in my life and that was when my sons were 2 and 3 yrs old. The 3 yr old and I were in bed and the 2 yr old, bless his heart, brought diapers for his brother and bottles of juice for both of us. That was 20 years ago! I don't worry about it. I would probably shock you with my sanitation. I don't care if someone coughs near me, they are sending me germs to strengthen my immune system! I don't wash my hands unless I'm done preparing raw meat, not even when I use the bathroom. If a child has a runny nose I will hug him or her, I'll shake hands with anyone. All this makes my immune system strong and I think that's why I haven't been sick for 20 years. My sons haven't been sick much either, my eldest having supposedly contracted the "H1N1" but was only sick for 24 hours. Don't get flu shots, please. There is some research that connects the shots with the onset of Alzheimer's and there's even more nefarious theories. You don't need them if you aren't a germaphobe.

Hi, savypat. Yes, I got my Flu shot already. I got mines in October. And my three kids all got their seasonal Flu vaccine too. We did not get the H1N1 vaccine. I am not going to mess with this one until I get all the information on this.

I have only had a flu shot once in my life along with my daughter who was only about three. She reacted badly to the shot and broke out in a rash. I was fine but I have never been keen to have another one, especially for her! I figured that if we get sick we will just take care of each other and get over it. I am not against them but I do feel a little concerned about the side effects of a lot of vaccines. So far so good...

I have got the regular one but not the one for H1N1. I was afraid of that one to be honest. Thr regular one was offered at the place I work for free so I did go ahead while I had the chance for that one.

Yup , I have taken the H1N1 flu shot. I took it while it is being made available at the flu shot centres. I feel safer now that I have taken the shot, with the news going around that the next round of the flu is expected very soon again. I have not got the regular seasonal flu shot yet. I should have that too.

Hey pat~ Nope! I have heard too many bad things about the flu shots, especially the H1N1! There have been too many people that have ended up getting the virus after having the shot and I don't need that! So, I am going to just take my chances and pray that I don't get either flu this year!

I do feel fortunate to have gotten both of mine early, but not so fortunate that the reason for it is that I am high risk. I am glad I did it, though. I would say try to get it, as this swine flu seems to die down and then reappear months later...probably this spring. Karen

I never get my flu shot. For me I've heard you might actually get the flu if you get the shot and if I get the flu I'm sick for a week. I already got the swine flu and it sucked but it didn't ruin my life. It didn't ruin my grades in school and I was perfectly fine. Now if you have a condition to where you need that extra protection, such as being over 60 or pregnant then yeah I can see getting it but when you're a young adult and healthy I don't see why you should fret.

It's not that I have anything against shots or needles; I'm not scared, I just don't like to get any medicine that isn't vital to my health. If I get sick, I'll just take some NyQuil, and I always turn out okay. I just don't like to add all of that stuff to my body if I really don't need to.
