In the Philippines we have Noche Buena every 24th of December, this is a Christmas Eve feast. This year, my brother and my sister and their family will not be coming home from abroad so it will only be my parents, my husband and my son whose going to celebrate Christmas eve. The food that were going to serve this Christmas eve will be a lot less compared to the ones that we have last year when everyone was here to celebrate. It's going to be a quiet Christmas celebration. My mom and I decided that we're just gonna cook spaghetti with meatballs, buko salad(young coconut mixed with fruits and milk and cream) and leche flan for dessert, mechado(beef cooked in tomato sauce)and grilled pork. That's it. That's our plan for Christmas eve feast. So what's yours?

We're a big family. Roughly, we're about 50+ in the family including my uncle, aunts, cousins. Noche Buena's a big thing in our family. Usually, we have one roasted pig (lechon), roasted goat (which i can't really stomach), kalderetang kambing, paella (my favorite!!!), fried fish, steamed crabs and prawns, fruit salad (with cheese!!!), leche flan and i can't really remember everything. Food-one of the reasons why I love christmas!

hi selina! haven't really planned out what we will have for our christmas eve feast but most probably it will be 'mechado', fruit salad, ham, bread, cheese, hot chocolate drink, and furits in season which would be apples, pears, grapes, and my favorite chico. not so sure though if we will celebrate it with my daughter and my wife at home or we will go to my parent's house which is just a few blocks away to celebrate with them. nothing big planned for noche buena this year as i want to celebrate it as simple as possible without missing the true spirit of christmas. cheers!!!

My mom and dad loved "mechado" a lot so it's always there every christmas...and yeah I forgot the fruits as well, it's never complete without the fruits. Thanks for sharing and have a very Merry Christmas to you and your family! Cheers!
