Have you ever been stuck in an elevator when the electricity went out? It happened to me twice. Once I was alone and that scary, but once I was at the office with four other people in the elevator two were bosses so they were pretty calm and so was I. so have you ever been stuck in an elevator or any other place where you couldn't get out, what happened?

Yes! It used to happen quite often in the Bell building when I worked for AT&T. I worked on the 2nd floor and I think the building was old even then. The elevator had a mind of its own and would stop occasionally. Always at the worst possible time. It is scarey. I have clostrophobia so afew seconds seems like a long, long time. You hear that buzz and then the thing gets moving again.

Yeah I was stuck on New Years Eve once in a elevator with the lady I look after, I had to be calm so she would be calm, it was in the apartment building we used to live in, I banged on the elevator door, and pushed the emergency button, a lot of people in the building that night so it was only a matter of about 10 minutes we were stuck before we were heard, and before they could get help it started again..

there was a very brief power failure, maybe a minute and the elevator dropped 6 inches - that was in college - that was the worst time.

It's kinda scary isn't it being stuck in the elevator! It happened to me twice, both in my office. The first time, I was alone and I didn't even realize it. But then I noticed why I was staying at the same floor. The second time, I wasn't alone, but it was scary because it suddenly became dark. But fortunately they were only for a couple of seconds.

No not yet and I wouldnt dare to wish for it. Being stuck in an elevator would give me fear, and maybe block my breath passage due to lack of air circulation. But if given that I would stuck in an elevator with someone I'm attracted to or someone I admire I would have second thoughts lol.

I have been. It broke down and we were stuck there for over 45 minutes. It is sure a very strange feeling. We were stuck between floors. I was worried they were going to make us climb out.

Not when the power went out, but I did get stuck in one at school once. LOL It was pretty funny. Cellphones were not allowed on the premises, but I had one, because my grandmother was sick, and possibly dying (she pulled through until 2004 though, so that later was not an issue during my school days as I graduated in 2000). Anyway, I got stuck in the elevator, and called the office on my cellphone, to tell them to call the company to get me out of there. At first the principal was mad that I had a phone on me, until I told him that my other option would have been to SCREAM FOR HELP until someone let me out (it didn't have an emergency speaker in it) but since I HAD the phone, I thought it was a much nicer idea to just use it to call for help. The cellphone policy was ammended after that to have phones turned off during class hours and protected from theft, that we could use them on breaks, during spare periods, but preferably only for ammergencies, and that we could not have them in the room during tests and exams.

it was lucky you had one, we don't have elevators in schools here, at least not yet which is stupid because their are disabled people.

Oh my goodness. Being stuck in an elevator is one of my greatest fears. Thank God, I have never experienced being stuck in an elevator. It would be horrible for me, and for anyone who would be there with me as I'm sure I would panic! If I ever do become stuck, I hope to goodness that I am not alone at the time...I don't know if I could stand the fear. I often take the steps rather than to chance an elevator going on the blink with me in it! Better for my health too...I need the exercise!

No, but that would scare me. I'm not claustrophobic, but I imagine if I were in an elevator for a couple of hours, it would start to get to me. And right now I'm thinking about the only place I use an elevator regularly. At one of my doctor's offices. I go to that doctor twice a month. And if I got stuck in one of their elevators I would be upset. It's not in a good part of town, and the people there aren't exactly "safe" looking. That's not a judgment, I've had some bad experiences there.

I was at a convention in a hotel in either Calgary or Edmonton (the convention switched between the two cities from year to year). At one point, I took the elevator but it wouldn't stop. It kept bouncing between floors, up, down, up, down, up, down. It finally fixed itself after a few minutes.

YES, several times already. I have learned that panicking will make it worst. Each elevator I'm stuck on has an emergency telephone. So I use it, and in a matter of minutes, the calvary arrived. Not really a thing to panic. Good for me because of the emergency elevators, but if there's no rescue along the way, then maybe there's always another way to free myself. Anyways, I always carry a lighten on my pocket (I smoke. So that would bring a light on my dark ways inside an elevator.lol

Yes, it happened to me twice. One evening, I was going home from work when I enter the elevator. After a few seconds the door closed, the elevator went down a couple of times when it suddenly stuck and doesn't moving at all. I was in the 5th floor of the building at that time, and when I saw where I'm at, I was in the middle of 5th and 4th floor. I pull out my cellphone in my pocket and was worried when I saw I do only have 1 bar battery. The alarm and phone in the elevator wasn't working. I took a risk calling the guard of the building using my cellphone, luckily the phone do have signal. I've waited a couple of minutes before he picked up my call and reported what had happened to the building administrator. Then, afterwards a couple of guards helped me to get out. I took the stairs to go down and go home safe. Thank God, nothing bad happened to me.

No, I almost got stuck in an elevator and almost freaked out. I was riding it to the sixth floor and it really slowed down and the lights when on and off a few times. I don't know why, but I pressed all the buttons when the lights came back on. I got off on the sixth floors. There was a sign that said out of service, but it wasn't on the first floor.
