Sleigh Ride

One of the mylotters mentioned last night that she had been on a sleigh ride. I have ridden horseback just about all my life but I never have been on a sleigh ride. I've always wanted to do this. It looks like it would be so much fun. However, I live in Alabama and although we do get snow, only about 3 or 4 inches every other year, we don't get as much as people in the northern states. Therefore we don't get enough for a sleigh ride. In fact, one of my favorite Christmas songs is "Sleigh Ride". How about you? Have you ever been on a sleigh ride? Tell us about your experiences.

well, it wasn't really a sleigh ride it was a hay ride.. it was at a Thanksgiving dinner I went to. And they rented a horse drown cart and after the meal everyone went outside and got on the back of the wagon and the horse and driver pulled us around the town. IT was definitely memorable. It was my first hayride So I liked it a lot. :-)

I have been on hay rides in my younger years, but unfortunately they were never horse drawn. I bet it was fun for you to do that with family and friends.

Hi minx267! This sounds like a lot of fun! I've been on several hay rides but not the kind pulled by horses. I have also ridden in wagons and stagecoaches. It would be fun to go on an old fashioned sleigh ride and sing songs along the way. Maybe someday I'll get to. Who knows? Kathy.

It was pretty fun. I enjoyed it.. I think it would be nice if everyone can do stuff like this. I was visiting with a friend of mines family. I was a little envious that my family didn't get to do this kind of thing all the time. It made it quite memorable.

I've been on wagon rides and stage coaches, too. I thought it would be fun to go on a sleigh ride in the snow and sing songs like you did. I bet that was fun!My parents, two oldest nephews, and I went to Tucson, Arizona in 1964 and we went to Old Tucson. My nephews and I rode the stagecoach there. We also rode the stagecoach at Knott's Berry Farm in California that same summer. The one at Knott's Berry Farm took us over pavement but the one at Old Tucson took us through the desert over rough territory. I imagine that's the way it really was in the old west. We were told that az lot of movies had been made at Old Tucson. I went to Tombstone, Arizona in 1987 with a tour group and several of us rode the stagecoach there and we saw Wyatt Earp's home. Kathy.

I sure didn't know that Old Tucson was burned down. That's sad! Does anybody know what caused it to burn down? I bet a lot of people who lived in Tucson were pretty upset about it. Kathy.

No. My parents used to talk about the sleigh rides they went on in their courting days, and they went on hay rides in the summer, too, but after I was born we lived on a goat ranch and did not have horses. We did have a huge hill, however, and sleds, and when little I would run up that hill over and over to get a chance to ride down again. Also, since I was the youngest and my sibling were boys, they used to pull me on my sled all over the place. That was when there wasn't enough snow for the sled run.

I've been on hayrides and those are always a lot of fun. One of the elders where I go to church has a big farm and he has taken us on hayrides out at his place in the fall. Also, the congregation used to have hayrides around Halloween. I bet the sled runs were always a lot of fun. My mother had a sled wen she was a child and she used to do this a lot. I hope you have a Merry Christmas.Kathy.

MERRY CHRISTMAS KATHY. I have never been on a sleigh ride either. I have a tendency to hibernate when it snows anyway, lol & like u we don't usually have that much snow anymore. We use to have enough to sleigh ride but haven't in a long time, i'm knocking on wood here, lol.

I never have been on a sleigh ride! I would love to do that! I have ridden over the years and had wagon rides. Never a sleigh ride! I live in Wisconsin and we have like 6 inces of snow on the ground right now! Christmas is almost here and this would make a good time to do it! Maybe someday!

I always thought youall had more snow than this in Wisconsin. That goes to show you how much I know, though, lol. I've been on wagon rides, too, and have ridden in some stage coaches. WEll, if you've watched the weather, you know Oklahoma has been covered with snow and has been in a blizzard to boot. Terrible wind and blowing snow------ But, the sleigh ride would have been nice if it had not been so violent around here. Anyway, yep, maybe someday we can go on a sleigh ride . In my case it will have to be in the hot depths of Africa at this point LOL

I have never been on a sleigh ride, but I agree, it does sound fun. I have never been on a carriage ride, either, but I know there is a place nearby where I could do that. It is a matter of having enogh time with my hubby for us to go enjoy it together. I live in Kansas, I think we have enough snow at times that a sleigh ride would be possible, but not every year or all of the time.

I wish. No I have never been on a sleigh ride. It sounds so wonderful but not likely to happen in the tropics!

Thank you for your response. I can't picture a sleigh ride in the tropics, either, lol! Maybe someday I will get to go on one, though. Who knows? Christmas is celebrated all over the world, even in the tropics, not just where there's snow. Kathy.
