I prefer a laptop than desktop PC. It's much better and lighter and easy to handle and maintain. I wouldn't want to have a PC at all.. Earlier I didn't think of it, but not anymore... Even in future, if I would ever have to buy a new computer, it has to be a laptop. It's just very comfortable. That's it.

Even in India we have power problems and everybody uses a ups with the system. But I guess sooner or later desk top will be out of fashion and everybody will go for a laptop or notebook.

Yes, I agree. I also prefer laptop than desktop PC. But I have other reason than mobility and portability. My reason is, here in our place, a remote province in the Philippines, we often experience power interruptions, power surges and power insufficiencies that results in damaged system or damaged hardware. I already bought UPS or Uninterruptible Power Supply plus an AVR or Automatic Voltage Regulator, but still I'm having problems. There are surges and insufficiencies that these two gadgets mentioned above cannot handle. I think with laptop, no problem like this, because it runs on battery. It's wireless. I prefer laptop.

I have both type, desktop and laptop at my home. My laptop is nearly 5 years and my desktop was bought recently, because my hubby is using it for his studies. I think both have the same functions, only depend on the user, it is for what purpose then need to choose which is most fitted to them. Both have their own advantages, like you can store more programs with desktop, where else you can bring along laptop, whenever you go traveling because it's light and convenient.

I have two computers in my house,a desktop and a laptop pc.Using desktop computer is more comfortable for me.For rough use desktop is a better option. If we put an extra mouse and key board, then we can use a laptop like a desktop pc.

I do put computer users into two broad categories ...1: Programmers(include bloggers, surfers etc) and 2: gamers ... both laptop and desktop have their own advantages and disadvantages ... as i am hardcore pc game lover i prefer desktop as their keyboards do have enough space to control ur character easily, desktop have a big advantage over laptops is that u will enchance ur pc's performance by adding graphic cards, ram , vga card , fans , more cd/dvd drivers , power input by replacing snps , sound cards, but these cannot be done in a laptop.

I have both the desktop and the laptop at home.I prefer to use desktop more often when I am at home.I used it for downloading purposes, writing DVDs, watching movies and games etc.Laptop is only for official purpose. My work is related mainly with computers and so, I need my laptop everywhere I go.It is small, handy and not bulky at all.I can easily carry it wherever I go or travel.

I've been using a home pc for awhile and I have to say that I would prefer a notebook simply because it can be taken practically anywhere, whereas at my home computer I have always be in the same seat(unless I change things around).
