Satellite gone out again!

The wind has been howling for hours and now the rain is beating down mercilessly with much sound and fury (though what it signifies remains to be seen). I was watching one of my favorite movies (Serendipity) and getting myself together to get out of here soon and out went the signal just before I heard the rain come down. The worst part of is that when it happens you can't get the latest weather update!

WOW! I'm sorry to hear this has happened to you again. Hope you can get that straight. Once the storm is over you won't need the tv for the news. It sure can be frustrating when you have satellite. I always wondered if there is a way they could set it up so that doesn't happen. I know they have a plan that you can pay extra for them to come and fix it, but geez, you would think they would do it right the first time. LOL

I'm glad it didn't stay out long. Don't you hate it? You have to pay for electric and satellite whether you get to use them or not. LOL

That's just it! You pay for the tv, you pay for the electricity and you have to pay for the sh*t you watch too? The new digital TVs are supposed to have more channels with just yout local broadcast. I have found the channels listed in the guide but I haven't really checked them out.

Well, for once it didn't stay out for very long. I tried emailing the company about it a while ago but they said there was nothing they could do.

I don't have satelite but I've heard it goes down pretty regular in bad weather. Well, hopefully the storm won't get much worse. Have a safe trip and a happy holiday, Canellita!

yes I just hate it when the lights go out or the cable, for me it usually happens when I am in the middle of watching a good movie. But when the internet goes out that is the worst of all because I get really nervous and worried if I am doing a writing assignment that just has to get done that day.

Yeah, that is the other thing for me with accepting assignments and meeting deadlines. There are so many things like loss of power that you have no control over that can affect your ability to deliver the work on time.

I know what you're feeling. I heard the resounding boom of the transformers just before all of the electricity went out this morning. They came on for a few hours, went out for a few minutes and now they are on again. Who knows what's next. It has been raining constantly since Tuesday night. What a Christmas.

Oh no! I hope it isn't too cold there or that you at least have gas heaters. All these modern conveniences we live with that aren't all that convenient, lol! It always seems like stuff goes out just when you need it most!

That's the bad thing about the service. If there is any kind of major storm the thing goes out. I really hate it when it does, but then again. I don't have much of a choice in what I have. I would like cable-- even digital cable-- as it is more stable, but our complex controls what it will and will not allow tenents to have. I think its its because dish network is "included" in our rent. (Even though to get the most use out of it I have my own reciever and chose to pay a monthly bill.)

That's just it, it doesn't take any major storm for it to go out! Usually the service starts messing up before I see or hear the rain or wind! Drives me nuts!

Im sorry to hear that all you guys are having bad weather conditions. I'm so glad we have cable television because satellites are able to give the best reception when the weather is nice and sunny. I hope the conditions there are lifted up and your tv is good again Canellita, you, and the rest of the people that are affected by this. Happy mylotting!

It was someone else's decision to go with Satellite service. I warned that the service would go out as soon as the wind blew but no one would listen to me.

It is normal happenings here. When there is heavy downpour, the satellite will malfunction and everything will go blank. Many nice moves are left unseen when it happens.

I know that satellites are effected by things like cloud cover but it seems like it barely takes a drizzle or puff of wind for the service to be disrupted. They don't credit you when it goes out either!

We used to have Satellite, but now have cable. The Satellite wasn't always the best as it would go out when the wind blew real bad, and I don't think we always got real good reception. It's been over a month since we've gotten cable, so I don't really remember all the bad things that happened with the Satellite. The cable T.v. is pixelated, or was, now I think it's finally fixed. Our Cable comes from a different county as the cable for our county doesn't reach out here yet, plus well we wanted DVR and I don't think our local company offers it either way. Hope you stayed safe and warm!

You like to read don't you? I only ask because I know you like to write articles, and if your not too fond of t.v.... Truth be told, I enjoy t.v. but if I had to, could go without it. I hardly get to watch it anymore anyway with working and / or doing other things that I've wanted to do to pass the time. Those portable t.v.'s you talk about you could probably find at a good will. I think my grandparents had a little red one at one time, but I think they got it at a store.

Well, I told me aunt not to get it and what would happen if she did, but she has some issue with the Cable Company. I plan on getting a little portable digital TV that can operate on batteries because broadcast is really enough for me. As long as I can get the weather report and see a few prime time shows I'm straight. TV is such a distraction! All those channels you get with satellite an cable just make it worse!

The tv I a talking about is definitely not something you would find at the goodwill store. The technology is too recent and it is not the sort of thing you get rid of unless you replace it with a newer version and eve then most people would just relegate them to other use.
