Hickory, Dickory, Dock. The Mouse Ran Up The Clock!

The clock struck one. The mouse ran down. Hickory Dickory Dock! Okay, I started with a nursery rhyme, but this discussion isn't what you think it is. Actually, it was a fitting start because it seems that I am constantly rhyming, most of the time completely involuntarily. I usually don't realize I rhymed until either I'm already saying it or have already said it. My fiance gives me a hard time all the time! I feel like the adult Dr. Seuss, except that Dr. Seuss did it on purpose! It drives me so berserk and my fiance never lets me hear the end of it, so I told him that one of these months, I'm going to write down every single rhyme I make in a month and turn it into a poem. The rhymes have absolutely nothing to do with each other, but still... Do any of you have anything that you do and you don't hear the end of it? This is particularly about strange out of the ordinary things that you do involuntarily, not necessarily things you do on purpose. However, if you don't have a strange involuntary thing like this, feel free to share the closest thing you can think of. Happy Postings!

hi xuara1 I chew on a lock of my long hair and it used to tickle my hubby as he would always say, does that taste good? This would jerk me back to realize what a silly habit it was and I would stop but here I sit typing and realized I had just chewed on a lock of my hair. dumb, yes. silly yes.I do not do it on purpose and when I find myself doing it I try to break myself of the stupid habit. oh yes, roses are red, violets are blue, if I need a rhymer, I will call on you. lol lol lol. Happy New Year xuara1

Happy new year to you too! Chewing on your hair, believe it or not but that doesn't seem so strange to me. I used to do it when I was a little younger. I think it started by getting food in my hair or something when I was a kid and I thought if I chewed it out, it wouldn't feel nasty anymore, but it kind of became a habbit. I don't do it anymore though. To be honest I'm not sure how it stopped, but it probably had something to do with when I started donating my hair. I cut it off short enough that I couldn't easily get it to my mouth, so I think that's what did it, but I'm not really sure.

well i am caught up with hair now - i used to have it very long (it is now medium) and got completely addicted to playing with it. i also used to have a bad habit of brushing it about once an hour because i didn't want it looking messy (this was when i was in my teens by the way). this i never heard the end of at the time - although some of my friends (and the boyfriend then, who also had quite long hair) actually started doing this too although they were nowhere near as bad as me. now i still tend to play with it but not very often and certainly not in certain situations (such as teaching).

Lol I think lots of people played with hair. It can be a fun time killer when you have nothing to do. I don't think I ever got into constantly brushing it, but I do carry around a travel brush for whenever it gets wind blown or I fall asleep on the buss and mess it up or whatever. Thanks for the reply. Hopefully a few more people will share their odd habits with us. To me hearing the strange things people do is entertaining and makes me feel less strange. Oh and I have another one too! I have this thing where I can squeak a certain way by sucking air between my lips and through a gap in my teeth from a tooth I had to have pulled years ago and have not gotten replaced with a false one. It got knocked out when I was a kid and the dentist pulled it by the root so now it's totally gone. My fiance loves my squeak, and most of my friends think it's hilarious. In fact, only one person is annoyed by it and that's my mom, though she likes my text message alert tone I created by recording myself squeaking. Not sure why she likes that but not the real one! lol
