He's cool looking. Did you keep him and can you eat them?

nah he went back in to fight another day, and not 100% sure to be honest but I don't think you can, though you can get various different species of these and some are poisonous that one isn't though

that is a kind offer but i already have two sections - this and p.e. (although i have been knocked off the top spot there), and a huge number of imaginary ones that i refer to in feeble attempts to confuse people...

Wow. I'd have wanted to put that in a big fish tank. It looks cool. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess.

Yes that does look lie one of the scorpion fish that has poisonous spines. Many people have scorpion , lion, or turkey fish in aquariums as pets. Just make sure to not get stuck by their spines or you could have bad reactions and have to go to the hospital. I remember when I was a kid , catching a fresh water fish similar to that. I do not remember much abut it except that it was the only one that I caught. I have also caught sea robins that have modified fins that it walks on and ling fins that look like wings.

Yeah had it posted on a fishing forum, and general view is its a short spined non poisonous scorpion fish, though some people been saying its a weever but bit too fat for a weever and wrong time of year I believe. Defo great to catch as caught it on a small 9ft pier rod instead of my usual beach caster. Upto then only dabs, flounder and small whiting so makes a fishing trip when you pull up strange looking fish. Don't think its eatable though so threw it back.

hey Benny that is a neat looking fish. My son would have killed to been with you when he caught it. When we moved to Florida and the very first day I took Nick fishing, he caught a dog fish. it was pretty unusual too. He actually had a bark type sound when we had him out of the water. Like you we let the little fella go. I wish people were kinder on the beaches. We live in Panama city beach and the trash people leaves on the beach are just so unkind to animals. I get out and walk the beach about 6:30 am on the days my husband works. You would be amazed how much trash is left daily on our beautiful white sandy beaches. So sad that each person cannot pick up after themselves to keep our waters and marine life safe!
