'Tis the season to be smelly!

Well, my farting muscles have been having a rest for a little while - until yesterday. I think it must have been all the extra food over Christmas - I ate more meat than I usually do, and more of a mixture of foods as well. Thankfully, I was okay when we had visitors on Saturday night. My daughter is also having the same problem, and she's vegetarian. Thankfully, we're not spending Christmas together, or we could create a toxic hazard in our lovely apartment. My son phoned yesterday - daughter's staying with him over Christmas - and he says it's a good job we don't have smellyphone, as it was truly awful in their lounge. They're afraid to light the fire in case Elizabeth produces so much gas that a stray spark will set her on fire - and ruin their new oak floor. So how about you? Have you had a windy Christmas?

I know what you mean..sometimes I wished I had a lighter because of my hubby..lol I guess I was lucky I wasn't really bothered with gas...at that time..lol..But then again I didn't make the Cole slaw or potato salad and macaroni salad like I usually do and I don't eat eggs anymore..but when I used to...oh my..you could bottle it up and sell it to the army as a defense mechanism. It was beyond the icky rotten egg smell.lol..

Hello, Becca. Is that why you're green, honey? So according to you, it's mayonnaise, potatoes and pasta that do it? Eggs seem to set it off for most people, and yet they don't smell like that on the way in. Sounds like your husband is a WMD all on his own!

Hello, Gabs. Still behaving? Was I supposed to? Oh, darn it! My son is only complaining because he's on the receiving end for a change. We're a family of farters, much to our spouses' disgust and distress.

Yes, we have lots of fart-based jokes as well. In fact, my husband says if he didn't laugh about it, he'd probably cry! At certain times, my a*se is a lethal weapon!

hi sandra wow what a time at least you were not with company. Ihad just one or two but it happened when I was all alone in my room except for my roommate who is quite deaf. that did help a lot too. I was just remembering my husband telling 'me About some roommates he hAd during the service in the second world war. One of them was notorious for farting a lot, so one of the other fellows thought it would be funny to light a match close to his butt the next time he did a fart. well I did not think it a bit funny as the poor man ended up in the Army hospital with third degree burns around you know where. so no I did not laugh when my hubby told this. I was supposed to I guess but what I thought was how juvenile can young soldiers get to be so gross.

Hello, Hatley. That's handy having a deaf roommate, because when you do an extra smelly one, you can blame it on the drains or something! I think guys all over the world have tried the 'light a fart' one. It just appeals to their schoolboy sense of humour. Mind you, I don't think I've ever heard of anyone being hospitalised because of it. I just wonder what was on the poor fellow's medical record.

ick. and the answer to your question is no. perhaps replacing meat with beans or soya products would sort out your little problem sandra?

Beans are worse, and I haven't found any soya stuff I like. And it's not a little problem, I can assure you! My daughter is vegetarian, and she's even worse than me. I just think I'm a natural born farter.

good for you. it's healthy to let go of bad air. :D i can totally relate but to me i'm windy most of the time. it sucks, i know. and a vegetarian will emit fouler (if there's such a word) smelling air. i noticed that whenever my diet's high on vegetables.

Yes, it's definitely better out than in! Most things set me off, but I'm even worse when I've had a mixture of vegetables or a lot of meat. Baked beans will usually do it as well, so my husband says only to serve them once a month!

Was a bit lucky as there wasn't any smell of rotten eggs during christmas. It was filled with the smell of nice food all day long.

It was the same here on Christmas Day, and the day after. Yesterday was when the problem started - and it's getting worse!

Same in our house, Dawn. It's just that Christmas food adds an extra level of complexity to the pervading aromas.

I spent Christmas day at my sisters with the whole family and she put on a huge spread, a lot of vegetables along with turkey, stuffing, sausage etc etc. Well of course it would have been rude not to stuff my self senseless and like wise the following day the amount of meat and rich food had the effect of turning me into a walking toxic hazard. But hey, it’s once a year and so why not run the risk of being gassed for the glorious pleasure of food.
