Do you have helpers at home?

I am referring to house helps or maids. Do you have any? Do you think you should have some? It's been a while since we had our last maid. I don't think we need one at the moment. Each and every member of the household are capable of doing certain chores. Well, it would help if we could hire one especially that my parents are about to leave for the United States. I spend most of my time at work and my younger sister would surely need some extra hand from time to time.

We used to hire house maids when I was still in my teens. We would hire someone from the province. We had a big spooky ancestral house that requires a lot of cleaning. But my parents stopped hiring them because we always get maids that are afraid of sleeping alone. They always end up in my bed.

well this puzzles me as hear about lots of people having maids or house cleaners lol, even some of my less well off friends have them. I personally don't see the point I think its just wasting money (unless the person is elderly or unable to do any household tasks) I am a single dad of 3 kids have them full time I also have my own business and the household work takes about 30 mins each day which is why I can't understand the need for maids etc etc but each to their own.

we are only three in the house. my wife my son and me. my wife is a stay at home wife from the day she gave birth so i dont think that we should hire one. my mom who is half bodied paralyze has a helper with her. we call them angels for it makes our live easier. if you need help then there is nothing wrong to hire one. as long as that person can be trusted.

I also call our helpers "Angels". Even when I visit friends and relatives' houses, I refer to their helpers as "Angels".

No we dont have a maid right now. But when I was in college we used to have a maid in the store and in the house. What I dont like having maid was I work better than her, I clean fairly compared to her and I still have to tell her what to do.

Well, it's obvious why you don't need any maid now.

Yes we do. We have employed this househelp for over two years now and she has been obedient, honest and kind. One advice, you might want to hire a help that can present proper documents, proof that they have not been involved in any crime. Times like these is really scary and it is always better to be sure than sorry.

hi dear friend, we are having a maid for washing dishes and all that stuff. i feel it is difficult , atleast for me. it is not for all twelve months everytime. it is for some months and then for some months i handle the things on my own. then for some months i call her back. for washing clothes and all, i use my washing machine and i do them on m y own also. cleaaning , dusting, mopping and all is also a difficult thing. but i manage. to have for all 12 months and for everything is very expensive and goes out of budget , for we people.

I do not have helpers at home. I consider myself a helper and often joke with my mum over it - that she has found herself an expensive helper. This is because I would nee to take leave from work to help out at home.

I do not have hired help, but my sister is staying with me thru the bad weather, and she is helping me out. My younger son stays 2 or 3 days a week and he helps to. So, I really do not need any one right now. Have a great New Year.

We do have house helps at home. In fact there are two of them. One is a male and the other one is a female. They have been with us for quite a time already. I and my wife are busy with work and so we do not have much time for household chores anymore including the washing of clothes. So our house helps does those things. But despite them being house helps, we treat them as part of the family.

I know in some countries it is customary to have maids in the United States some people have them and some people don't the really wealthy may have live in helpers. Most people clean their own homes, but some people like to hire a maid service that comes once a week or twice a week. Personally I prefer to clean my own house. But once when I got really busy and didn't have any time and the house was getting out of hand I did call a maid service just once. It was kind of nice, but they did not do a good job on my shower stall in my master bath. It was kind of cool how they cleaned my entire house in 2 hours, but there were two of them.

Hi Dolce_vita, Since I was young, we had house helpers in the house. These are relatives that we help send to school. They stayed with us. When I got married, I had one each for the three children that I had. Both my husband and I were working. There was a time that we had five house helpers in the house. Three of them at one time were college students who are from different provinces and who cannot afford their board and lodging. We sent them to school and they all finished college courses (all in all, we sent 7 students to college). All of them have their own families now and have their own professions. Three are now working on board ocean-going vessels. It is a nice feeling that they visit us from time to time and are very grateful for having sent them to school. Right now, we have one house helper because all of us are out of the house at daytime and I always worry about incidents of fire in the city. I chose to have someone in the house during daytime.

I live on a rented room away from home. But I do the cleaning myself and remaining work is only cooking and serving food which is self service. However I wish I had a maid and then I could get a chance to relax.

Here in my country, even the middle income group can afford to have house helpers. I grew up having helpers at home. But my mom still taught me household chores. So when our house helper goes on vacation, I do the chores at home.

We have never had any helpers at home. I mean paying money for helpers, but we do have our own parents and parents-in-law and siblings for help when we are in need of them for help.

Absolutely. I have a wonderful helper that is always ready to help out by cleaning up my carpet. Whenever any food falls on the floor, I simply call out "Here Poochy! Clean up the food! Good boy!", and my doggy rover comes and cleans up everything that was dropped. Much cheaper than a man servant, and I don't have to worry about my wife having an affair with him.

No I do not have a maid and do not need one right now. I can still do the housework myself and my husband does help some and we can not afford any extra help with only one of us working.

I don't think I need a helper or helpers. I live with my parents and we all pitch in. I think helpers costy too much moeny and I probably wouldnt be able to find anyone that would really love to do their job.
