Do You Think the Internet is Getting Out of Hand?

A few years ago people would have never thought that you can do so many things on the internet. For instance, shopping for clothes, going to school, or making money. As we progress we are doing more and more things on the internet that we could easily do in real life. Is the internet progressing to the point that it would allow us to not leave our homes? Is it taking over our 'real' lives? What are your thoughts about this?

Hi, I feel the same.Today we keep in touch with our near and dear ones through internet, make money through internet, all bank transactions, learning is through internet, shopping, playing etc is done through internet. But on the other hand, its getting us glued to the virtual world. We have hardly time to spend with the real world. We hardly go around and have got addicted to the sendetary work.Inother words it is affecting our health.

I don't think it is getting out of hand, just advancing and making our lives easier for us. For example, shopping can be frustrating having to drive to the mall and then wait in line to try on clothes and then decide which ones you want to buy, and then wait in line to actually purchase them. Online shopping makes this easy and convenient for everyone. I don't think it can get to that point because there are some things you just can't do online, like spending quality time with your family.

stonez not really as we are all adults and have free moral agency so we do not have to let anything control our lives. we are supposed to be in control. as my doctor used to say, all things are good in moderation, but bad in overdoing it. of course he was talking about health issues but this can hold true for just about anything. I personally find it really useful as I am physically handicapped and cannot easily do some things in real life.for those like me internet is a real god send and not taking over any thing. we can do for ou rselves without having to ask our kids to wait on us all the time. we keep our dignity this way. and thats always good.

Of course it is getting that way but the thing is people WANT that. And that is probably the sadder part of the two. I would love for people to want to go outside but so many more people are looking just to live lives online and I'm not sure what the exact reasons for it are. Perhaps it is because so many people are judgmental that they feel like they won't be judge if they live a life online because online you can be whoever you want and most people don't question it.

I really don't think it is getting out of hand, maybe few people are fully dependent on few things on the internet, but I personally feel like a person should be fully INDEPENDENT and by smart working a person can make use of INTERNET and such other things in life. Yeah, INTERNET serves a lot to people's need and save a lot of time and gives good info about everything and we should use this info smartly and take our live in a more advanced way.

I don't think it's getting out of hand any more than other technologies are. It's far better to spend time online than staring at a TV. We can learn a lot and interact with others online, at least. There are some who become addicted to the internet, but they would become addicted to other things, too. I think it's good to support local businesses, but if those businesses don't have the goods I'm looking for, I will buy it online.

I don't think the great content and opportunities provided by the internet are the problem, except for those who become addicted to its use as an escape. What is getting out of hand though is the number of people looking for a way to tax its use. That will be a great loss for internet users all over the world.

I think it's an amazing resource and tool that opens doors and allows people access to opportunities. However, like anything in this world, the internet will have people who overuse, mis use and abuse it.
