What FOOD will you be eating tonight (New Year's Eve?)

Canada

At the ANAF as well as an assortment of good things to drink, they will be serving sandwiches, and probably some chili. So, what will everyone else be EATING on New Year's Eve?

Hi danishcanadian, I think it's a bit soon to be planning this years menu don't you, it's only a few hours since the last New Year's Eve. I'm really not planning that far ahead as yet. It's already 2010 on this side of the pond.

No hard feelings here DanishCanadian but you have just absolutely swamped my in box with discussions and I'd failed to check if you respond or not and you don't so I'm going to have to delete. Apologies.

We had pizza on New Year's Eve, the kids loved it! Then on New Year Day, I made sure to have some black-eyed peas for luck, not that I believe that but couldn't hurt, you know? LOL Then for lunch we had spaghetti, one of the kids favorites and sugar free chocolate pudding (YUM), then for dinner we had leftovers and I had some chicken. Overall we have eaten plenty of stuff today! LOL

My husband said do not cook at home, we will order from outside and enjoy our New Year Eve. So I went out with my two daughters and got them some gifts for New Year. Then I ordered Masala Dosa, Vada, Fried Rice, Paneer masala as side dish, Cashew nut Burfi (sweet), and some salads (raw vegetables and yoghurt), Plain yoghurt and Orange juice for New Year Eve.

We had ribs, pasta, salad, broccoli with cheese sauce and french bread. All home made except for the ribs which were store bought, ready to heat up. Oh yeah and the french bread. :-)

Well, we just ate, but did not have dessert yet. We talked about going out, but even by 5:30 pm the restaurants were crowded. We went to the grocers, got some artichoke dip and some fixings for hot beefy cheese dip and some tortilla chips. That is what hubby and I ate along with fresh coffee. Dessert is in the oven, it is called Razzleberry pie and it is a Marie Callender brand frozen pie that you bake at home. A real favorite, and we have vanilla ice cream to go on top of it. It is full of raspberries and blackberries and maybe some other berries. Sooooo good. One of our favorites.

Since my parents are coming down for dinner and bringing black eye pea soup which is a tradition now, that's what we're having! Supposedly black eye peas bring good luck for the rest of the year. (OK what ever) Hubby doesn't like black eye peas but said he'll eat a bite or two just for the luck of it. lol I like them and will eat some but not a whole heck of a lot like my parents will.

hi danishcanadian since I just had dinner in the dining room here at Gold Crest retirement home we had a not very exciting dinner of stuffed green pepper, corn, potatoes and canteloup, not very imaginative for a place like this but thats what we had.I happen to love stuffed peppers so was a pretty happy camper at that. They serve no spirits here of any kind nor is any allowed, more is the pity.

Nothing special here. I don't go out on New Year's Eve and, now that my sons are grown, I stay home and watch the ball drop in Times Square, IF I manage to stay awake that long. LOL This year, especially, may be extra dangerous driving. There will be a lot of drinking tonight and a lot of driving and the weather is bad here which is a very dangerous combination. I'm too old now for all that. I'd rather stay nice and safe at home and bring in the new year quietly. Oh, I did have some leftover turkey today, if that counts.

I made a cake for dessert. That was my special New Year's Eve treat to myself. Maybe next year I'll do something special for the holiday. This year, however, there's just been too much going on.
