I had about 40 channels available through my cable TV, but when I recalls back how many channels that I really watch regularly, it falls to only about 10. How about you? Is it worth it to subscribe so many channels when you regularly on watch less than half of them?

I have far too many channels I think. Now there are programs that I watch on most of them every now and again. However, on a regular basis, it really is not that many. About six to eight channels, at the very most throughout the period of a month get regular viewing. Of course, I rarely watch television any more. I remember when there was only about twenty five channels and I could always find something to watch. Now there are many more channels and hardly anything on.

I guess the most that a normal person would watch TV channels on a regular basis would be around 20. The rest would be just a hit and run type of glancing through during commercial break. So I think one should always determine his/her actual interest before subscribing. Happy mylotting

Who wouldn't been addicted to television at any period of time in one's life. For me, its back during my student days. But during that time the number of cable TV channels was not like today. If only there were like nowadays cable TV channels, I might had end up not studying at all..hehe

There are almost 90 channels that is available to us. But I watch only 20 channels at most. It includes some news channels, sports, documentary channels and movie channels. In my opinion, its useless to pay for so many channels. But it is true that we have no way out.I always surf channels, specially when there is a commercial break to any one which I am watching.

Yeah sometimes we spend time changing channels between commercial break because we don't want to miss other good channels. That would make it more difficult if we found few others in between that..haha.. Thank you for sharing. Happy mylotting tuyakiki

I have premium cable. i have all the available channels for my area. Before I recently got my cable again, i had only about twenty channels. Now that I have cable I sometimes forget i have all he channels and watch the lineup I was used to with the twenty channels. I do enjoy watching some of the premium channels but I dont think I need all the channels I have. My boyfriend does watch all the movie channels. I watch them occasionally but I stick more to the regular cable lineup and just a few premium channels. personally I like to record shoes and watch them. I aldo like to watch shows On demand.

Sometime when we first subscribe the premium cable, we thought we have a lot of time to watch those channels. Maybe for few weeks, we did watch some of them but I bet only temporarily. Better to watch the On Demand ones because we really knew what we want to watch eventhough its normally more expensive.. but worth it.

I thought the same thing when I had Dish Network. Most of the shows I wanted to watch were on when I was at work or asleep, so then I had to upgrade to the DVR package ( basicly TiVo)for an additional $5 each month. After a year i just cancelled my subscription because i was just paying way to much for 8-10 weekly shows... and the weather channel =). All of which I can see on the internet anyways. So for me it just wasn't worth it.

You had made a good decision. Just imagine if you continue paying and extra $ per month without utilising it, you are paying expenses unnecessarily.

I have over 100 channels so theres always something on most of the time so i usually flip between around 10 different channels.

That would just be a waste of channels wasn't it Scott? Unless you got them cheap.. ;-)

I think we get about 100 with Comcast digital cable, but I wouldn't say that I watch them all. I probably flip back and forth between about five channels when I watch TV. USA, TNT, Bravo, Lifetime, and.. well I guess it's only 4 then.

Hahaha.. that's the point I wanted to raise here. We didn't realised that we actually paid much much more of what we actually subscribed or perhaps we didn't really utilised the full available channels... ;-)

It is surely worth subscribing to many channels, even if you are not going to use them. Personally, I use only about 12 channels in total. About 5 of these are news channels and the rest are entertainment. I would suggest getting more channels than you need, because you never know how your interests will change as you progress in life or what interests guests to your house may have.

Yes robert.. its nice having a lot more channels because we might never know when we would need to watch them later. But for me, too many can be too wasteful of subscription fees. I like the way you think of your guess interest too... i never thought of that. ;-) Thank you for sharing

We also have 40 available channels in our cable plan and I only watch in 7 channels but I think its okay because my children still watch in cartoon channels and my husband watch in basketball channel so I think even I don't watch in other cable channel it is still worth because my family member still enjoy the channels that i'm not watching. I also try the other channel when I feel bored in the shows of the regular channels that i'm watching daily.
