What is a good cure for hiccups?

Some people say scaring the wits out of a person can cure hiccups. Others say that drinking lots of water can cure it. While there are still other people that breathing into a paper bag can rid you of the hiccups. What is the quickest and best possible solution to this problem? I want to know.

When I do get hiccups, I just drink something. The problem tends to away. I am guessing the moisture does something to alleviate the problem. However, I'm not quite sure but that's what works for me.

let me explain to you why does this with water work. hiccups are because your belly diaphragm is going up and down very fast. so holding your breath calms it down. why drinking too? when you drink you dont breath so it is same as holding your breath but for some and easier way. liquid has nothing to do with it. and the rumor of scaring peoples guts out isnt working. sometimes you even get that no breath stance when washing your teeth. i hope this explanation will help all of you that doesnt know how this helps or why does it help.

The common solution for that is to take a deep breath. Avoid talking for quite sometime until it was totally gone. Maybe drinking lot of water can cure but can cause you coughing mechanism in effect. Because there was a problem in the passage way of the air. Deep breath is the effective one. You cannot be choked nor coughing mechanism can be avoided.

Well for hiccoups, there are thousands of solutions... ~Hold your breath ~Drink Water ~Run a cold key down your neck ~Scare someone suddenly (I play horror games, lol) ~And many more. But I usually drink water and hold breath.. If they're REALLY annoying then I do the scare way, you could also end them if you get a shock.

That is what I normally do. I find it a quick and easy way especially when I cannot drink water because I dont have water available all the times so I found this remedy. sometimes I dont succeed but i try it for a second or third time. It usually works

Hi inkyuboz, the best way to help rid of hiccups is to drink atleast a cup of water very slowly holding your breath. I get hiccups very frequently and this is how i control or get rid of it. Hope you find this response useful. Thank you.
