Have you ever tried and/or tried to make gnocchi?

When I was in Italy several years ago, I was served this amazing pasta dish and at the time I did not realize what it was, but it was gnocchi in this great cheesey sauce. The texture and taste was just so great I have tried since to duplicate here at home. I have tried the pre-made kind and was not impressed, but have not been brave enough to try to make from scratch myself. Does anyone have any insight on a good brand to buy, or an easy way to make?

I had it for the first time on a vacation in Rome. It was fantastic. I have tried to have it again here in the States but it was never the same.

I would love to learn how to make that too. There is an Italian restaurant here in my city that makes a great gnocchi. The texture and sauce was so good that it would make you want to slap your mama lol.
