The First Night I was at my Daughters, we had to stop at the Hotel where she works as her Heating was broke
Well to get to my Daughters room we had to go in the Lift, this is the first time Gissi has been in a Lift
The Lift has a Mirror on one Side, well Gissi did not notice it at first but he happened to turn around and stopped in his tracks, he then got all excited about seeing another Dog, he was walking up and down wagging his tail, jumping up at the Mirror, putting his nose to it, then started to bark at it. We tried to tell him that it was him, but he would have none of it, we where laughing so much at him
When the Lift stopped, I had to drag him out while my Daughter kept the lift Door open as he did not want to leave, he wanted to stay with the "other" Dog, I had to pick him up and carry him out in the end as he would not budge, it was easier dragging him to the Car that morning as there was Snow and he was sliding lol
Every time we went in the Lift he was so pleased to see his "Friend" but we always had trouble getting him out of it
That's the not good thing being lifted as People can just pick you up and carry you hehehehe

I have a corner display cabinet,(full of dragons and one shelf of my husbands model cars). It has a mirrored back and the first time Dexter saw it , and himself, he was riveted. it was a bit worrying as he is not keen on other dogs and this 'other dog' was staring right back at him. He tried to get as close as he could , glass doors permitting. he was even more surprised when he realised there was another 'mummy and daddy' in the same mirror. that totally shook him. he still hasnt figured it out, but as his basket is in front of it facing outwards, he doesnt really see it. and I have put bigger dragons down the bottom of the unit so he can't see the 'other dog'. The picking up when you are a small dog, is very convenient for us owners, but very aggravating when, as a small dog, you get whisked up off your 4 paws out of reach, of having a good bark at another bigger dog, or to get under peoples feet and trip them up. As Dexter is getting older, and as he has little stumpy legs, he is finding it difficult to get upstairs of a night. (either that or he is just too lazy !!)I have to pick him up and carry him up and as he is a very thickset dog he is no lightweight. So very strange isn't it, that when there was a mighty loud thunderstorm not too long ago, he was up the stairs and up on our bed within seconds !!

Lol that is so funny
Hmmm about the carrying upstairs Gissi does not do Stairs either whether up or down, when I was at Mel's Mel had to carry him upstairs and down, I can't as it kills me already getting up the Stairs lol
That is strange I think they are just lazy and think it is great to be carried lol

yes, but when we first adopted him, he was about 4 years old. He would quite happily bounce up and down our stairs as his previous owner lived in a ground floor flat and stairs were a great novelty. But after a while he started to limp quite badly and the vet said he had strained a muscle in his leg. He also stopped coming downstairs. So I think he had jumped down the stairs and landed badly. We ended up putting in a stairgate to stop him going upstairs when we went out, so he wouldn't be stranded away from his bowl and water. He would bark very loudly when stranded upstairs. Being such a little dog, he has quite a gruff bark. Not a yap, and he sounds like a big dog ! My neighbour went round one time as he was wuffing loudly and he turned into a small version of a big fierce guard dog and he growled at her and she couldn't pick him up. So up went the stairgate. Now of course he is getting older, he is nearly 9, and our stairs are quite steep and when you are only about 18 inches high, the climb is a bit daunting. So if you have 2 doting owners who are daft enough to carry you up as well as downstairs, you would take advantage of the situation, our Dexter does!!

Hey gabs! Gissi is so silly! I know that my cats do the same
thing when they see themselves in the mirror! I have a full
length mirror behind my bedroom door and when they happen to
see themselves they think it is another cat and I also can't
get them away from it! The have no idea either that it's them!
They keep sniffing and looking and going back and forth and
all I do is laugh! I can just imagine little Gissi thinking he
found a new friend!lol

Well I have to say Gissi is a very brave doggie indeed, well naturally he's my bessie mate, but Wolfie doesn't like lifts, so he would rather walk up regardless of the stairs, mind you there's a point in which I reluctantly take the lift, if it's three or four floors or less I'll walk any more and I push myself to get into that little confined space. But I had to laugh I wish I had been there to see him, bet that was funny, you cheered me up, but then you and Gissi always know how to put a smile on this face x

Hi Sweet
I am not to keen on Lifts but I can't do stairs to well and even worse when I have to carry the little Fellow up them as he is scared of Stairs, even when you carry him up them, he literally clings to you and shakes
My Daughter has stairs in her Place and she had to carry him up and down them, the thing is he thinks it is a game that we have to catch him before we carry him up lol and my Girl was getting mad at him at times, but did Gissi care, no
Love to you Sweetie always xxxx

I bet he had fun discovering himself. That may be why Gissi did not want to leave the mirror. He needs to have a mirror at home so he can see himself more often. CeeCee has a mirror that she checks once in awhile. A girl has to look good, ya know.

The roomie reminded me there was a mirror in the room at the hotel when we went down to Houston with Zoe. She didn't react in anyway that we noticed, she had her mom, her food and water and she was happy, well, happy until we got on the elevator. As soon as it moved, she dropped to the floor because she was convinced that floors shouldn't MOVE!
The roomie did most of the walking, but the time I did, I took her all the way down the grassy walk to the end of the parking lot and then back up again - the roomie said I was nicer than she was as she only took her a few feet in. I told her it was because I could SEE where I was going!
Zoe was also fine with being left in the room, tho when we went out to eat, we locked her in the bathroom because we didn't want her to have an accident on the carpet. The night we got to Houston, we went out to eat with a friend who picked us up. In the morning, we woke early and were hungry so went down to get directions to the nearest IHOP but discovered they had a nice breakfast in the hotel, so we ate there and then went back to our room and slept some more!

HaHaaaa! I could just see him now doing this! How cute is that? He thought he had a little friend, that's so sweet. I think you should get him a friend gabs, so you have two running around! Can you imagine the stories you could write here on myLot about their escapades. Well now I can go to bed soon with a smile on my face, thinking of Gissi and the magic mirror, lol!

Lol Kash another one Like Gissi goodness I could not keep up lol
He is actually quite Jealous when it comes to sharing me and gets into a lot more Mischief just to get my Attention lol
When I was at my Sons his Friend who I have known since he was 12 lol brought his Bay round for me to see and oh you should have seen Gissi, he was not happy lol because I had the Baby on my Lap, he loved the Baby he kept sniffing him and gently nodging him but then he would get up to mischief lol so in the end my Son had to keep him entertained but that did not work and the strange thing was I was talking to him as well as the Baby who was a Sweetheart and full of giggles lol
As soon as the Baby was put in his Pushchair Gissi was on my Lap lol

Memories. I used to tease my cats with my hand mirror. They couldn't understand why the cat disappeared at the edge of the mirror and kept looking behind the mirror. You'll have to get a hand mirror for Gissi and teach him what a handsome little guy he is - oh of course, he already knows that!

hi gabs still laughing picturing gissi and him seeing himself in the mirror, and wanting to stay with his pal, his self. boy I bet he could get heavy after a while but no hes your Gissi so that makes the difference.I don't think he much likes the cold wet stuff we call snow, as I can picture him sliding and maybe barking a bit too. I just hope nobody ever makes the error
of picking up Gissi who does not have the right to, hope he
would bite that person really hard. but dont worry hes too
smart for that any way.hugs to you and my pal,the little man
in the dog suit, Gissi.

Hi Hatley
Believe me if someone tried to pick him up he does not know he will bite
I had to explain to Mel's Friend who was going to pick him up to wait a bit till he got to know her as he was growling fiercely at her and would have bitten her but the next Day he let her pick him up as she took the time to get to know him and to let him get to know her
He kindly did his back kicks again today in the Snow and I was covered I am sure he does it on Purpose
