Want people find comfort in food?How can somebody to find happiness in food?

Can we learn to find comfort in something besides food ? When are depressed, peoples like to eat a lot, never don t look what is in the plate, they want just to feel that theirs stomach is full, no matter with what. Taste, smell and texture give us something that our minds need? is true? Why do people turn to food for comfort?you know the answer? Do you think that it’s time for a new relationship with food? Can people find happiness and comfort in a good book, maybe in a short vacance, or maybe just in a good song??

well eating is always enjoyable. and gatherings and happy times have food or something the event however if you are depressed its not good to find comfort in food cause it will make you gain weight which then will add more depression in you already depressed moment

It is true that when we are depressed we consume more food bcoz we may want to satisfy ourselves by eating.We can change our minds during such situation like taking long walks,listening pleasant music etc..meditation can give us more comfort.

Food helps empty a void in your stomach, and that's about it ;) Some people, i guess, probably eat to forget whatever is bugging them. I don't want to sound totally philosophical or what not, but i don't think that you can find happiness in food, a good book or a vacation. I would consider these as pleasures leading to happiness, but not as something that is happiness (wouldn't that be a bit materialistic?). I think that someone may find happiness in doing what they love to do; a hobby(e.g. music), working, or writing for example.

Hi icesmile! What a wise woman! I wish I could answer this very difficult question because then I would be helping myself along with many others! I find comfort in food many times and as much as I wish I didn't I just do! Why? I wish I knew! Most of the time it is sweet foods or desserts! I have no idea why and I wish I could stop myself, but I just can't! Like right now! I am ready to cut myself a piece of some blueberry cake that my boyfriend brought home for me from his job in a college cafeteria last night! I want to resist, but it keeps calling to me!lol And I am going to answer it right now! Yummy!

Hi icesmile, When I'm depressed I tend to wear myself out - like do all the things at home, clean every corner of the house, inside and out. Then when I get tired that's when I embark on the next task - eating. Yes you're right, like many others, I find comfort in food specially when I'm really down. Watching TV is also another thing that I find comfort in when I'm not feeling good.

Well, we have our own mechanisms of busting stress. I find comfort in food sometimes, mostly chocolates and sweet treats. I cannot focus on reading a good book when I'm depressed. Music is more likely, I listen to upbeat songs which contradicts how I'm feeling.

i have these situations where i feel stressed due to the situation i'm in and eatting food is like an escape for that current moment. i would rather find comfort in other things but food some to work best. i naturally am the type he don't like to stay still so i think that aids in not gaining too much weight even though the consumption of the extra calories. when i'm in a better circumstance i don't think i'll rely on food as an escape.

hi icesmile, previously i am eating more,before 5 years,i got heart pain,from that time i have reduced the food to half and consuming the water more than the previous,now i take very very little food,mostly snacks every time and every day,i have reduced my wt up to 17 kgs,that is my food,have a nice day

What people find comfort in food? My answer to that is I don't know. Because even I is confused with that. Because even I is a victim of this. Whenever I am depressed or angry, I tend to eat more than the usual. Maybe because this our human way to release the negative emotion(s) that we have inside. It is like the food is our output for whatever we are feeling inside us. Even recent studies cannot explain to this.
