Why I will never fly.

There is a few reason's I won't fly! The biggest reason is I'm scared of heights! I know I would panic if I'm up in a plane! If I wasn't scared I sure wouldn't go up on a plane with all the restictions and the possibility of a terror attack! With my luck a terror attack would happen or the plane would blow up or crash! So I am glad I'm scared of heights!

if you have fear of flying coz those planes might be attacked by terrorists or it might crash while it takes off or landing coz of engine failures and many more so you avoid flying in planes.then how about travelling in cars does these four wheelers provide or insure that you would be safe, and how about those pedestrains on the road---you would never knew when a truck can hit you from the back. The fear is in your mind ---as you have travelled by car and came to know that you're safe---so the same goes with the flying until and unless you dont travel in it-----it continues to haunt your mind.great day.

It's ok sunnycool, she's got a bit of a complex, anyone who doesn't agree all the time is either criticising her or they get ignored. You raise very good points in fact. Maybe bluespaker is just worried about the seat size as some airlines do charge more for larger people.

hi blue packer i didnt criticize you---if at all i had offended then i'm sorry.I just wanted to point that risk is part of everyones life so its the same with flying, travelling in a car---though the probability of incidents varies.

flying is the safest form of transport, I am scared of heights and have done my ppl (pilots licence). Being scared of heights won't stop you flying as I am terrified of heights but love flying. Also there is terrorist attacks on planes, but you are just as likely to get blown up in a shopping mall or on a bus or train but this doesn't stop people going shopping etc etc very few planes have technical problems or terrorist attacks so get yourself booked on a flight and sit back and enjoy seeing the world from a birds eye view. Seriously though really is nothing to be scared of.

yeah security is a bit mad but I would rather be a little bit delayed on the ground than something happenning in the air, I flew on the 9/11 anniversary and had milk in a bottle for the little one had to drink it, and everybody was going beserk but I was well it really is no big deal what's an extra 30 mins going through security even an hour if it means your safer in the air.

The security has got a bit over the top though, taken the fun out of flying to a certain extent. It will be interesting to see what develops over those Heathrow arrests that have just happened. Probably a few drunks coming out with "choice" remarks, something that would have been shrugged off before Dec 25th.

I love to fly, I fly when ever I can - not often, but still... Of course, I starting flying as a small child and every year we would fly up to New Jersey to be with family for a few weeks. The last time I flew was also to New Jersey, but I doubt I'll be flying much any more, no reason.

I've flown on dozens of planes during my life, and I'm still afraid of them. People always say that statistically flying is safer than riding a bicycle. I'm statistically not encouraged. So I don't blame you for not wanting to fly. I personally find road trips much more enjoyable.

I feel scared to at first like you but I learn to fight my fear. i even like to ride the highest rides in amusement parks as one feel nervous at first but once you try it it lose any fears. the feeling is so good that you would again repeat the rides. I terms of riding in an airplane i do pray to keep me safe and only god is my refuge. If everything fail then I just accept my fate as their is nothing to fear when one think too much of it one becomes paranoid and this feeling control you the ability to explore to enjoy the things around you.

I never flew until I was 55 years old, so I was quite nervous about my first experience. However, there's nothing to it. If you don't look out the window, you don't even know you're high up. Even when you do look out, mostly all you'll see is clouds which keep you from seeing the ground below. I've flown several times now in the last few years, and there's nothing scary about flying. The airports, on the other hand, are a different story!

I used to be scared of heights too! Until i tried skiing, and kind of conquered that fear when I realized I'd have to go on the lift up the mountain. Flying on an airplane isn't so bad... I mean terror attacks are very unlikely, i'm pretty sure flying is very safe. Sure it might be a bit uncomfortable at first, but you'll learn to love it.

I think you know, there's dangers everywhere, even crossing the street. So if you're brave enough to go outside your house, I think its pretty safe to fly. You can check the safety records of certain airlines online. I think some have a really high safety record, only a few crashes over 10 or more years. its probably more likely getting hit by something while walking on the street than it is for a plane to blow up or crash. If there's somewhere you really want to go, like a country you've always wanted to go to, its worth flying if it makes you happy. Alot of people do more daring things that are life-risking, like extreme sport, but i think they are living their fullest and it makes them happy so its about what's worthwhile to you. The things you want to do in life vs perceived safety. its not 100% safe even being in your own city, so i think u have to keep that in mind when u think of everything else, just how safe is safe enough.

I have to say bluepaket once again you've been totally rude to one of your responders for no reason. Did you actually read what the young man in box 14 said to you before you had your little tantrum. I think he deserves an apology from you.

I'm scared of heights too but I still fly. I have flown alot in the past 5 years and the restrictions are really not so bad. I wear clogs so I just have to slip my shoes on and off. I don't wear a belt and I don't pack anything that is not allowed on the plane. I only carry on one piece of luggage. Thank God I have never had anything bad happen. The worse thing is turblence but that is from the air pockets in the sky. The only thing I really don't like about the whole flight is the take off and the landing. Once you are in the air its a wonderful feeling, even though I'm afraid of heights. I think the difference is if I'm in an open area where I feel I can fall that scares me. On a plane I'm in an enclosed place, which is more secure to me.

Now, comes the problem of going down.Simple..i take the stairs ;)haha. Anyway, i tried travelling by airplane once and i wasn't so afraid really, it was a one hour travel only. But i never wished i would sit beside the window, and i got my wish.

Fear of flying is very real for alot of people, but its actually statistically the safest mode of travel in the world. We have far less car accidents, bus accidents, and even train accidents world wide than we have ever had plane crashes. I have been on a few flights in my time and the hardest part is the take off and landing. Once your in the air you don't really feel much of anything unless there's turbulance. As for the restrictions, they can be a pain but on the other hand they have been put in place for everyone's safety. I don't mind more scrutiny at the airport if it means some idiot can't get an explosive device on a plan and wind up killing himself and others because we didn't properly make use of regulations to stop him. The problem there is there is not a specific international set of guidelines that all countries around the world are required to use. It may be unrealistic to expect there to never be another terrorist attack in the world, but that doesn't mean that's exactly what we should expect from our security forces.

I don't care that is the safest mode of transportation! I don't care about that! I know if I flew I'd have a severe panic attack! if not I'm sure something unplan would happen on the plane! Something bad! I have no confidence in the airlines!

Come on, it's not that scary :) It's a rare thing to be in a plane during a terroristic attack. Really rare thing! If you ask me, there are more than enough speculations about the terror attacks. The plane crashes are again rare. And, yes, it depends on your luck. But what your luck depends on? If we start thinking about our bad luck all the time, it will be behind us all the time. We live to risk! Without a risk, there's no life! And about your phobia - it is just a fear. You should fight against it! The best way is - see the fear! Look it the eyes :)
