At What Age Did You Leave Home?

In some culture, 18 is the age where you should leave home and start living on your own. I left for college when I was 17 but came back home 5 years later. I still couldn't afford a place of my own so I stayed with my parents for 2 more years. I was already 24 when I finally left and got my own place. At what age did you leave home?

I left home at 17 after graduating . I have never been back and would hope circumstances never forced me to go back. But this was 25 years ago !Times have changed and adult kids seem to be staying at home much longer for lack of income or establishing a career is much harder than it use to be.

Things have really changed. Where I come from, some adults get married and have kids and still won't leave home. There are households with 2 or 3 families living in it.

Yes they have ! It use to be a town with no pay phone,Now turned into a barrel of monkeys in every other house ,with every type of person you can imagine. I personally cannot imagine living with more than my hb and kid,who also left the nest after graduating but not in the shape ,I was thank goodness. Is it the money or just the way people are comfy living is my question.

Well, technically I left home at 18 when I started college. However, I have lived at home during summers and breaks because living in the college dorms means you have to leave during certain times. I just moved out last year at the age of 22. I officially have my own apartment as I'm not in school anymore and I'm working a job. So I guess if you want to consider that the age I left home then that would be it.

hello nocturn! the first time i try leaving on my own was when i am already 24 or 25 years old when i decided to rent a room nearer to my place of work...but i am already married that time as well...but i can't still say that i really leave our house coz i still go home every weekend with my husband... but it just last for about a month or two coz the following months, i actually leave our house for good...not because i want to but i have to and its a call of duty! my husband was assigned in another province far from my parent's home and so i must go with him... and i am in such situation for almost 5 years now and i am just able to go home once every year for one week only! at first it was really sad to leave our home specially when we have lots of beautiful memories in that place and of course we're gonna missing our parents & siblings to whom we shared most time of our life in the house...

I have to say I left home 3 years back. Not because I want to but I had to. But I have to say I did not end up having my own place just like I have dreamed off but ended up here with my in-laws. Here in my country our norms stay at home with there parents up until they decide to get their own place but mostly they still would rather stay with their parents.

I left home when I was 18 and I have never moved back. I think the average age for people moving out of home used to be around 18 here, but seems to be increasing because the cost of renting or buying a house is growing faster than the average income. I have a younger sister and a lot of her friends won't move out until they have finished university so maybe 22 years old or so.

I left home at 18 for college but then I came back home after I graduated. I finally leave home to start living on my own after I got married and I was 24 yo. Me and my husband agreed that as a new couple, we better start to leave on our own then staying together with our parents.
