Do You Believe That Money Can't Buy Happiness?

They say that money can't buy happiness. There are rich people who can't seem to be happy even when they have all the money in the world. I don't think that this saying is true. If I can be happy without money, I sure can be happy having lots of it. What about you? Do you believe that money can't buy happiness?

I am happy with 'enough' money but I would not want too much. I feel that if I had a lot and was considered as rich then there would be toomany 'friends' appear on the scene wanting me to lend them some. The taxman would then be aware of me too and having to worry about him might make life complicated. I am happy with just enough to pay the bills and a bit over for extra things. I don't think my life would be any happier if I had enough for luxuries such as fast cars and endless holidays or whatever.

hi nocturn98, Certainly, yes. Money can't buy all, it simply can't buy someone's happiness. I believe that most of us needs money to support our family and acquire some of the things we want in life. It makes us happy in in a way but it can't make us truly happy all the time. I mean, people who have lots of it always say that, money didn't make them happy in their life. The sad part of it, it also causes trouble in someone's life and it has become the root of evil. I, myself, will definitely be glad to have millions of money but, my happiness is not about what I have or how many money I have in the bank, it is more of what I can give to my family and loved ones. My happiness is not all about material things. Happy Lotting!

Hey nocturn! It is true that people who have lots of money sometimes still aren't happy! But, happiness is whatever you want it to be! I think that all the money in the world won't make someone happy if they don't have their good health or someone to share the money with! Money can make people happy to an extent and definitely make their lives more comfortable, but it can't buy happiness!

Many people need the money in order to pay their medical bills and hence have good health! :)

I really don't know if one can be so sure about that !Money is essential for most things in life and it does give you happiness just with that feeling of security and affordablity . But just money is not enough to be happy there as many other things are essential for a person to be happy...all the best and happy mylotting

These rich people havn't had to go without money. If I had money and didn't have to work I would be happier. My job is misery. I love to travel, can't do it cause don't have money. Therefore for me money = happiness.

I say that all the time!! Anyone who says money can't buy you happiness has clearly never been without it! That being said, though, I think that too many people use money to fill a void in their lives. Money alone will buy you peace of mind and security, but friends, family, and a well-rounded personal life (hobbies, etc.) are what bring you happiness.

Happiness is not something you can put a price on. It is within a person and the person who is happy will be happy no matter what their circumstances , rich or poor. Take the woman who has several kids to feed and a deadbeat husband. She's constantly anxious about feeding the kids and keeping them warm but she bullies them and is very strict, taking life's misfortunes out on them and her husband. She tells people everywhere she goes how hard it is to make ends meet. Then she receives a windfall, enough to pay all the bills, fill up the pantry and some left over to save and also enough to give this family some treats. Will this change the woman? No, she will still be the same bullying, whinging person she always is. She might be happy for 5 minutes but it won't change her.

sure it can.it depends on what you define as happy. i think some of the rich that are still unhappy would be that way no matter what their financial status. if they're that sad they should find some truly destitute people and give it away then.at least make someone else happy with it.

Hi Nocturn, Money can't buy everything. Money helps in areas of our life. But being rich doesn't make you happy. I have seen some kids my daughter goes to school with that are rich and spoiled. But I think my daughter is happier then them even though we are not rich. We do get things we need but not all the time can we afford things. No I don't believe money can buy you happiness.

Money can't buy happiness, my friend. Money is only a sort of something to live in this crazy world. In reality money can make people worries about the future. People think about money and always wanted to have it. Therefor money can't buy happiness. If you have money your not be happy because you might be thinking that someday someone will stole it from you and this is one of the reason to loss your life... Money can't buy everything as well...

i think it depends on the person. i mean some people enjoy working and having some sort of achievement and this brings them money and contentment and happiness so probably in the end we can say that money can buy happiness. however, happiness is temporary in most people for happiness is truly knowing how to make yourself happy, having the intuitiveness that happiness is sought and worked for...

Dear friend! The saying is an eternal truth. Happiness doesn't depend on money, mental state. If you take a closer investigation, you'll see that all the richest people of the world are stricken with some unresolvable problems. Of course, money is an essential thing which makes way of life easier. But if you often rely on money, soon you'll lose faith on yourself and get frustrated. I'm a poor guy with a very poor income source. But I'm very happy, peaceful and easy-going. Good luck!

going by your logic, money can't buy happiness. because money is not the reason for happiness. if one is happy with or without money, then money is not a factor for happiness. to me, money can't buy happiness too. happiness is something that is more than material possessions. things that bring us joy and happiness usually cannot be bought with money. things that make me happy includes spending time with my loved one, reading a good book, playing with my cats and cooking a great meal for my family. these things of course cannot be done without any money. but not much is required to bring profound happiness to me.

Yes I believe that with all my heart...I believe that you can be rich and happy...money has nothing to do with the aspects of happiness. I think Happiness is from achieving goals and dreams, finding love (family or friends), Religion or some form of spirituality, giving back (charity) and feeling appreciated (this means you!) Good post, Happy Monday all!

It might be so. I think happiness can be fetched when someone feel safe, satisfied, caring n loving others, capable of helping others n another goodness. However, most people who have much money they also have what i 've told b4. They r in a safe condition - so that no worries. They r satisfied - getting what they want yet. They r capable of giving some favours b'coz they have lots of money.
