what is in sarah palin’s new book?

following the astounding success of her ‘going rouge’, a seminal work with brilliant make-up tips (mainly about blusher) sarah palin is set to release a new book in time for easter. ‘me and my potatoes’ is being published just as all our thoughts turn to potatoes (the smart person’s alternative to eggs). so what do you think the writing team will include – hilarious anecdotes about palin’s encounters with potatoes? recipes? her vision of a new potato based economy? down to earth family stories about potatoes? in the unlike event that you are not interested in potatoes fear not. other american politicos are getting in on the action. notably obama’s mesmerising memoir ‘me and my turnips’, al gore’s ‘global warming is bad news for carrots’, what’s-their-name-who-is-leading-the-republican-party’s ‘who hid my parsnips?!!!’. so which of these will you be investing in to add sparkle to your bookshelves? [note to budget conscious readers - wait for two days after they come out. then you will be able to get them for $0.99 [the lot] at your local dollar shop]

I believe that the book will be an exculpatory explosion for those of us who wish to continue our copious consumption of potatoes without being called nasty names by the likes of PETA (Potatoes against the Eating of Taters and Anchovies). She clearly illustrates in her stories of potato hunting, how important culling the potato population is to the survival of other garden species and the very real danger that an unregulated potato population could lead to a tater takeover of resources. Al Gore has been funded by the UN with a new grant for additional scientific research. Seems his falling popularity is in direct contradiction to the accepted scientific theory that hot air rises. Those who oppose this grant, however, are becoming known as hot-air-cause deniers.

Must remember to tell Al that when Sarah says to apply rouge to the apples of the cheeks, she meant the other ones.

Judith, I love potatoes but I'm wondering how much would be left of any that Sarah Palin prepared what with the bullet holes... I mean, she DID say, "We eat, therefore we hunt," didn't she...lol? Annie

a quick bullet to the head is a reasonably humane way to kill potatoes. btw did palin really say that? it doesn't make much sense.

First I would like to point out a few facts. #1 her book has NOTHING about make up in. #2 she wrote it herself not with a writing team. #3 it was a VERY good book that did not place blame or gossip but stated facts. BUT in the spirit of your discussion - I would rather see Al Gores - Um global warming? I meant er Global Cooling....... um wait a minute... how about Climate Change for Dummies or Obama - Just call me daddy

I hate to correct you but "Going Rogue" was written by a ghost writer. Annie

@laglen i haven't read her first one so have no idea whether it contains make-up tips or not. nobody knows for sure what is in 'me and my potatoes' yet. al gore?. oh yes that unemployed american politician pretending to know about science. i am sure his work would be full of waffle. climate change BY dummies has already been done all over the internet already btw (from idiots on both sides) @annie - why did palin get a ghost writer anyway? wasn't she looking for a new job at the time so had plenty of spare time, and doesn't she have a degree or standard grade or something in journalism so presumably CAN write a basic autobiography? tut tut, bit lazy really...

laglen, congratulations on reading Sarah's book. I did, too and found it fascinating. I have discovered that most people trampling on its contents haven't bothered to actually read it and have not a clue what it's about. Naturally, knowing so little about it, they believe themselves capable of discussing it rationally. In reading it, I discovered a lady with a terrific sense of family, warm humor and who tended to compliment even those people who were out to destroy her. What a change from 'politics as usual'. And, having not read the book, but listened only to talking points, people have no idea how much it was costing her family to battle lame ethics claims since Alaska DOES NOT pay the bills for such things, but insists that the governor pays her or his own way. Since these false claims, all of which she was absolved, were coming in at dozens a day and each one had to be answered with thousands and thousands of sheets of paper EACH, she discovered she could no longer do the job for which she was hired. Of course, most people who listened to Saturday Night Live also think she said I can see Russia from my back door. That isn't what she said. She said you can see Russia from Alaska's shores - and she is right - you can. But heaven forbid, truth get in the way of destroying a person! It's so much more fun to rip and shred not only a candidate, but her family, too! It's especially fun to make fun of a Downs syndrome child, who will never know his own 'crime' was being born with a more loving and more forgiving heart than all the 'normal' nasty people. Gee, wonder why Obama's girls weren't brought in as fresh meat for the ripping crowd? Because when the jackals come out, it's usually from the left. Their children are sacred, but children on the right are ripe for the killin'. If the politicians don't do it, they make darned sure to leak just enough false info to carve the opponents family to ribbons. What they didn't count on was a woman and her family, who love each other so much, they depend on each other, not outsiders to make them feel confident and to keep them going. VERY SMART FAMILY. In her book, as well as in her campaign, I found a woman who had to decide whether, like most politicians, she would turn her back on her principles when put to the test. She admitted she saw why some women might destroy a child like her youngest, but she couldn't bring herself to destroy life. Because, like it or not, that baby is LIFE, not just an inconvenience. She had to decide whether when her teenage daughter was pregnant, she could stand by her principles once more. It was amazing that, as a politician, she chose family above all else. I also discovered the huge difference between Democrats and Republicans. Democrats stand by their party members no matter how wrong they are, but Republicans lack the backbone to stand up for anyone. I'm a conservatist, but have a real problem saying I'm a Republican or Democrat. Both are pathetic at this point. Why, oh, why would Sarah possibly have a ghost writer? Could it be because she does more in an hour than most do in a full day? Good old Hillary used ghost writers and, since the double standard I see is considered false, it must be because she's lazy. After all, if one person using a ghost writer is lazy, then anyone else doing the same must be equally lazy, right? That goes for Bill Clinton, and surprise! Mr. Obama, too, in spite of the inability of his adoring crowd to accept it. Once again, laglen, it's nice hearing from someone who actually took time to read the book before talking about it. Well done.

Rumor has it that, due to the recent near catastrophic freezing of Florida's citrus crops, her book will include a bid for a Citrus Bail Out which involves...potatoes.

That won't do. Obama does bail outs, so he might be interested in your book. The more he spends, the happier he is. I'm certain he would like to tell everyone how to bankrupt a country in record time! A good name for his book could be, "Mister, Can You Spare a Potato? ('cause we had to pay all of ours to China.)

Hello, Judith. I love potatoes - preferably baked in their jackets or mashed with swede, but having seen Sarah Palin in action on tv, I very much doubt that she could invest the subject of potatoes with the drama, intrigue and interest they deserve - unless she employed a ghost writer. But if she did that, would they write about ghost potatoes? Do we even know that potatoes cross to the spirit world? Tempting as those other tomes sound, I'm waiting for the seminal book to come out: 'A cauliflower is not just for cheese - it's for life.' With your inside knowledge of both the political and publishing worlds, perhaps you can give me the tip when to expect it, and who is likely to take up this literary challenge.

If it's anything like her frist book it will be very good......I enjoyed the book she wrote and learned a lot about her that I didn't know......She's one smart cookie and if she had been running for President and the republican ticket instead of Vice President the ticket could have been a lot stronger......

hi hatley, glad i caught your response before running off. very funny. is it true palin thought africa was a country or is this a myth? you won't need to wait for a half off sale if you are talking about famous people's autobiographies though - they tend to end up remaindered in hours at about 1/20th of the optimistic asking price. with parsnips i am not sure.

Well, her last being the garbage that it was I am sure she and her publisher will come up with some tastie morsels for the reader to digest, even believe. About potatoes. Good choice. One of my favorites. So they are all getting into the act? I need to hurry and get mine in to the publishers. It is entitled: "What is that other brown stuff that didn't make it in the toilet?" Get your name on the list it is going to be steamy. Hehehe

Hm, dunno, as I haven't read it do not intend to read it, etc. If she writes another, it should probably be a cook book: All Things Moosey, or All Things Alaskan from Whose Back Yard One Can See And Read The Minds Of Russians. Going Rouge ... yeah, in France, it would sound like a book of makeup tips. Sorry...I'm sure she's a fine fine woman sometimes. Just not my cuppa tea :D

I don't know what would be in her new book, but if it is as fascinating as the first one, I'll be in line to buy it! Everyone got all fired up over her 'get even' book, except if they actually read it, they discovered that is not what it was about at all. It was th story of a strong child growing to a strong woman with the love of parents, husband and family. She made no excuses for anything in her life, but laid it out for all to see. The book I would like to see would be written by God to Al Gore. It would tell Al that no matter how hard he pushes global warming, this winter and the finding of those e-mails are God's way of saying, "Al, can you avoid avalanches?" "Al, can you say snow skis?" "Al, fur and faux fur coats are back in style. You might want to invest in a few!" lol
