The temperature brought by the climate changes definitely have affect the way you could spend your time. In case the temperature is warm, the people in some country would rather stay at home than even though they have their plan to go out and their other outdoor activities are canceled or either rescheduled in another time. In case they have no air conditioning unit, the plan would be to go out of the home to go to the shopping mall to refresh themselves or go to the nearest beaches especially during summer every week ends. The same things during winter seasons activities are limited. Some people have no desires to work or even they are require their productivity is hasten losing interest in some of their duties. How about you, Do you think climate changes have an effect in your leisure time? thanks 1-11-10

Dear neelianoscet, Yes, climate change affects our leisure activity very much. There is one occasion where we are in Ocean Park Hong Kong. We plan to enjoy the outdoor activities, however, there is warnings on typhoon no. 5 which they will stop all outdoor activities. So, we ended up visiting all the indoor games and exhibits during that hours. Thank God, 3 hours later, they started the outdoor activities when the warning is then withdrew. We managed to sit on the outdoor cable car and see other outdoor attractions :)

hi iriene, yeah, climate changes greatly affect our movements and freedom to strolls round the parks enjoying rides in the amusement parks. As per management policy they really suspend the rides when their is rain as it would soak the passenger in the rain and the slippery booth and rides is both slippery. Though, their are other alternatives as you mention like indoor activities still nothing beat the fresh air and the amazing sights which one could experience doing outdoor activities gives more fun than just sitting down. thanks.

Winter always has an affect on my leisure time. I love gardening and fishing and I can't do either when everything is frozen. This winter has been especially bad with very frigid temperatures, rarely going above freezing. Our lake is completely frozen and the snow we got in the beginning of December is STILL on the ground. At the moment, it is JUST at the freezing mark. I doubt the ground will thaw out until well into Spring. Summer is not that bad. It does get hot but not usually unbearable. Those days when it does get very hot, I just come back into the house because we do have air conditioning. I don't like going out shopping when it is very hot but that's the only thing that is really affected in the Summer.

hi mentalward, yeah, many amazing outdoor activities can be done outside one's homes which everyone would be so happy to participate. together with your family you could enjoy lots of learning activities which everyone are looking forward for the summer to comes. I understand your places is under freezing temperature and no one like to go out often when their is a risk of getting cold diseases. then, the family could only opt to enjoy indoor activities in the absence of outdoor hook ups. thanks.

Hi neelian! How's my girlfriend today? Well, being that I live in NYS it is really cold this time of year! And on the very cold and windy wintery days no one wants to even get out of bed or leave the house! But, when you have things to do you have no choice! I am not working right now, but when I have things to do I just have to bundle up and walk to wherever I need to and get whatever I need to done! Sometimes it is so cold out that it hurts and I already have a bad knee and ankle and the cold weather only makes them worse! But, you just sometimes have to do what you need to do! I try to watch the weather and pick the best days to go out and do chores!

At the moment it is cold and snowy in Britain. The roads are icy and it is difficult to go anywhere if you have to travel. News have been saying some local shops are unable to get enough supply for customers and non-household shops have seen the amount of their customers reduced by 40%. I wonder what kind of leisure activities people have in mind when they need to worry about food supply? I am not a very outdoor person. So this kind of weather really put me off for doing any outdoor entertainment. In fact, my outdoor activities only contain shopping and occasional jogging, and I didn't go out of my door during Christmas for 4 days. I simply phoned up relatives and friends to come to visit me, so I didn't need to go out and be tortured by the weather. I guess if weather was warmer I would be more active and less lazy. However, who can tell me there will be nice weather in this time of the year in Britain?

hi hisoyir, It would really difficult to go outside and be merry as it is freezing cold outside and shipment of commodity is affected because of the slippery roads and it is going to be hard to the seller to reach out their contact especially if the climate gone so far beyond the freezing point. it is definitely boring and lonely to stay inside one home and yet it is still the safest to have fun with doing indoor activities with your family and friends. it really have affect on the moods as the freedom of movement is restricted when one is expose to cold temperature the body experience being numb and have cramps. Well, good times just awaits you when summer starts..thanks.

Well colder weather and snow and ice affects our ability to go outside. I know I like to go for walks outside during the warmer months. Right now, I am pretty much stuck inside. I have to seek alternate methods of exercising. So that's one way that my leisure time is affected. A lot of rain would affect that as well. The climate tends to rule what we can do a lot of times and changes force us to adapt.

hi magawatt, Yeah, and it pretty boring and lonely inside one home as it still have a great difference being outside enjoying basking in the sun if the weather is good. In your place i understand it is freezing cold outside and even if you like to go outside is is not advisable one could suffer from having cramps, numb feet and hand. then, the road is slippery outside and their is risk of getting cold diseases. Then, you;re right it is a matter of adjustment phases for everyone to get acquainted with the climate to enjoy it and find other alternatives to do the usual activities which suppose to be outdoor but now converted to indoor activities.thank

We in tropical countries will find it hard to do outdoor jobs when the weather is too hot. All I do is spend my time indoors reading or surfing the net. The hot sun not only affect my leisure time it also affects the skin. Even with sunblock, the skin still get dark and regular exposure to the heat outside will age the skin faster.

hi zandi, yeah that is really the disadvantages while those who live in tropical climate complain about the hot weather which is the exact opposite of those who live in temperate climate as they love outdoor activities. this, in terms of job it really difficult to stay outdoors without shades unless one only when to work in air conditioned office definitely being expose to the heat momentarily comes short as when the office is over, then comes the evening time the heat is no longer visible. then, over exposure could even lead to skin cancer so it is definitely advise not to get too much exposure to the sun radiation for better skin. thanks.

I live in a country which has a temperate climate. If I lived in a tropical country I might have delightful leisure time all year. I only have delightful leisure time in the summer. I wouldn't be able to sit out in my freezing cold garden at the moment. We are having a miserably cold winter. I don't wish to take my dogs for walks at the beach. I can't have picnics in the countryside. Days out are awful when my children get cold. It gets dark early and evenings are really cold. It is not pleasant to go out to the movies one evening. In the summer I go out to the beach and have lots more fun. Winter is boring and summer is fun.

hi maximax, i do agree with you having winter gives a lot of restrictions on your freedom to enjoy leisure as it is not good to stroll when it is freezing cold because it would make anyone sick and the climate is not appropriate to bask outside home. So you could still have fun doing indoor activities in the absence of the opportunity to do outdoor activities. As you say nothing beat the summer season and you could have all the fun, many things to do and you could have accompany your kids in any places you go without worrying for disturbance as the climate is fine then activities could go smoothly as you wish. thanks.

As such, i ended up running on the treadmill, which i dun really like to.. yup, your running ability is hasten by rain but its kinda conflicting since you also love rainy days as you mention in your other discussion.. or if you like you could combine then the two, if you only run alone, then... and since you are a running man when would be your next run still there in singapore? You should try other places too... anyway, if you could not run then, in case you have already aged which is still far from now, I would like to know what kind of sports would you engage in aside from running?

hi kun, yeah, it is not good to run in a wet and slippery roads just like you mention it restrict the momentum of your run which is very true. Is running really a part of your daily life even you do not join marathon? is it necessary every now and then.. I think you are already fit..lol..your muscles have receive a lot of stress from over exercise and need to have fats..well, just kidding and besides you are already motivate to do long walk as a habit forming which for your own benefits..then..good luck then and make use of your time running endlessly when the weather is fine..lol..

Yes, climate does have an effect on my leisure time. More people around here spend more time indoors in the winter but more want to get outside more often in the summer. I ride horseback a lot and I can only do that in the summer. Some people like to ride in the winter but I was taught not to because horses can be very frisky when it's below 50 degrees outside. I've had several accidents in the past and I want to be careful. The therapeutic riding center where I volunteer is closed down right now because there are just too many bad days in the winter to be doing any riding. I also like to swim a lot and that's another summertime acitivity around here. We do have an indoor pool here in town now and it's fairly new. I haven't had a chance to try it out yet. Kathy.

hi kathy, Yeah, very true and enjoy the breeze of the air and the excitement though, I have to have a companion when I am riding as i am short for the horse height..lol..and have petite body thus they are afraid i may break my back if i fall... maybe i am just settle for a pony.lol.. Yeah, Cyrus is a fine name and for how long have you been riding or when do you learn horse back riding at what age did you start? That really need a lot of guts and need to be tough to discipline a horse... Well, done swimming is so therapeutic too and very relaxing..Have a nice day!

I've been riding since I was 7 years old and I'm going to be 58 next month. My daddy taught me how to ride. He always wanted me to take riding lessons, though. A parent can teach you what they know about riding but you learn to be a better rider when you take from a licensed instructor. I'm sure he would be happy to know that I'm getting lessons now out at the therapeutic riding center where I volunteer. Those of us who volunteer out there get our lessons free of charge since we volunteer. Yes, riding can be very therapeutic, too. It has often been compared to swimming because it has the same buoyancy of spirits. Kathy.

Yes, riding horseback is very relaxing. It's better if you don't ride by yourself, though, in case something happens. I don't have any choice since I live alone. A lot of times, I don't have any choice but to ride by myself out at the therapeutic riding center. Somebody has to be at the barn before anybody can do any riding at all, though. Yes, my horse is named Cyrus. I named him after the country music singer, Billy Ray Cyrus, lol! He's my favorite! As far as swimming goes, I used to have a membership at a gym here in town and they have an indoor pool. I used to swim in it after my workout in the exercise room. Kathy.

i dont think the climate gonna have great effect on our daily life. normally if the climate is not good, you can change you plan. may be other plan gonna be more better. that 's depends. so people have consider all kinds of situation before making the final decision. but sometime, people have to learn how to change and accept some unhappy situation.

hi liduo_wang, Yup, it is a matter of adjustment and the only things which bother to other people is when they are not use in adopting other climates as suppose to be he come from Asian countries then transfer to the coastal areas he would not get quickly acquainted with the temperature the first time he land on. Then, in a matter of weeks or months it is then the adjustment period begin where he could finally adopt to the present situation wearing a lot of protective clothing in case one get easily infected by flu it is fine to set some precautionary measures for own protection. thanks

Yes i think it would really. The way i do it is, when its colder i tend to do more activities so i would feel warm later. When its humid, ahhh thats when i am too lazy to do things becausei tend to just stay in a place where i can feel comfortable cooler. My rhinitis hates humidity, so im really not in the mood to be active, and when i take medicines, i would feel drowsy and just stay in bed and snooze, snooze, snooze. Well cold climate makes us sleepy too, but we dont want to sleep when we know there are lots of things that we must do. I say i love not too cold, not too humid days, which is tropical, and that's what my country is having most of the time. Have a great week!

It does. When the weather is hot outside especially in the afternoon, I don't go outside during Weekends. I am to tired to go out, I always decide to stay at home. If I want to refresh myself from the hot weather, i go to bath for 30 minutes and stay besides our electric fan and sleep. The same goes when it is raining, whether it is not raining hard, I am so lame to go out of the house. I don't like get my feet wet. I don't like to get wet. I lose interest of going out of the house. If I have my own car I can consider going out, but if I will commute to get to the place I want to ,I rather stay at home.

hi greychunny, That the same things i do as often as possible i do stay most of the time in my house every week end and just go out in the evening or in the afternoon when the sun ray is already minimize. Weather changes greatly affect the manner one deal with the situation and it also affect the mood and disposition of the person involves as some outdoor activities could not done unless the temperature of warm weather cease it is then one could start enjoying basking under the ray of the sun having fun doing outdoor activities with friends and family.thanks

Hi neelia, You are right; the weather can play an important role in our leisure time activities. Now here the bad weather is going on. I really don’t want to go out on this bad weather. But I have to go for work and on holiday there is no outing and I preferred to stay at home. If the weather is pleasant then we may feel to go out and enjoy sometimes with kids. We are reducing the outing maximum in winter (with family). This is applicable in case of summer, if the sun scorching then it is not good for outing but in the evening we can go. The same opportunity is not available in winter season.

hi sreekala, yeah, same here in my place when their is typhoon the roads are wet and slippery then those who live in the upland have muddy roads that it is not good to travel and many would rather stay at home. It is also a matter of adjustment like the saying rain or shine the show must go on and need to do the work as it is one responsibility and the sources of income for the family. Definitely, it never feel good to go outside hanging around when their is winter and when the climate is warm and the way you adjust your schedules is inline too with the way to protect family from scorching heat or to the extreme coldness. thanks.

As I was telling someone recently, this recent cold snap here in Texas has made me lazy. I usually walk for exercise, but the cold for which we are unaccustomed has prevented me from getting out and doing that. Once a good habit has been broken, it is hard to restart. This is unlike bad habits.

Certainly the climate does have an effect on leisure activities. Day to day work days are not effected as much because the majority of us have no choice but go to work regardless of the weather! On the weekends of course it is a different scenario. Here is Australia it is summer and today it is extremely hot, 41 degrees Celsius in fact and the best place to be is indoors by the air conditioning or swimming in the pool! If the weather was cooler we would consider a picnic or a walk to the park. so, sure the weather has a definitive effect on our leisure activities.

Well it's currently winter time and I live in a pretty bad place for winter when you're someone that hates being cold. It's so cold here that I try to avoid going outside as much as I can because I just can't feel comfortable while I'm shaking violently from being so cold. When it's a warmer climate where I live I am much more active and spend a lot more time outside. I always look forward to the summer because I absolutely hate the winter. I spend quite a bit more time in the woods and outdoors when it's not negative ten degrees outside.
• Philippines

hi jambi, Yeah, i do hate windy and cold seasons too as i am prone to suffer from rhinitis and other cold infection. It also makes me feel weak , having lot of cramps and numb feeling over all. Winter makes the blood circulation in our body to slow down keeping one feel heavy and lazy with too much sleep the energy even though one could fully rest it still a different feeling being expose in the sunshine as the warm rays of the sun reinvigorates making one feel energetic. aside from lots of outdoor activities awaiting when winter is over it is a time to have the family to bond and enjoy strolling in the parks, enjoying rides in the amusement parks and enjoying nature at its best. thanks.

hi shellback, yeah, too much exposure to the sun is dangerous to the skin as constant basking on the sun makes the skin dry, wrinkled and their is a tendency to get skin cancer when one is not to conscious to protect itself for the extreme radiation brought by the sun. Though, it have a lot of seasons ranging from rainy, summer season and so on the important things to keep in mind are able to enjoy those seasons especially learning new activities during summer brings a lot of fun both for kids and adults alike. thanks
