In England you can retire as an when you feel like it really. (At least i'm pretty sure that's how it works) but our maximum age is 65.

Hi zhouxi, I live in Canada and here most people work until they are sixty or sixty-five, some longer. There are a few who retire younger. Since people are living much longer today, most people either have a hobby or take a part time job doing something different, after they have retired. Blessings.

The mandatory retirement age in most sectors here is 55 for both genders. But for professionals like lawyers or doctors it is around 60 years old.

In Denmark it depends alot on your health, but if you are completly healthy you can first get the public pension when you are 67. If you want to retire earlier this is an option if you have saved up for a private pension yourself, the private pension can be used as a combination with a parttime job from the age of 60.

My knowledge of this is rusty, but I think the maximum retirement age is 65. Correct me if I'm wrong here. From the people I have met over the years, the average retirement age seems to be between 60-65. They have all told me that work gives purpose to their lives, and they would secretly be very bored without it.

here in the Us in some companies people must retire at 65, others do not have an age limit, but we can get social security at 65, going to be 70 in another year or two. retiring at fifty five they must have high wages for sure, here its 65. men and women its the same65. I retired at 80 as I loved what I was doing. I was only working part time and shelving books and all media. the staff was so great and so much fun to be with. really great.

In the company where my hubby works (a private one), the age limit for retirement is 55-years-old. But some people are chosen to prolong their job, by signing in a contract, well, around two-three years working contract. In some governmental/state companies, I think the age limit would be around the same age at 55, but they still got retirement funds even after they are retired. I think the if we don't want to be retired, it's best for us to have our own business, so we could retire anytime we want.. lol..

Hi zhouxi, in India we have different rules in different states for retiring. On average it is 60 years. In private employment people can continue to work as long as they can contribute. The reason there are variations in retirement ages is umeployment issue. As youngsters need to be employed, older people are asked to retire in some states. It is a move for political gains. This is perhaps the reason for corruption in our country.

Here in India the official age of retirement is 6o years, it's applicable to the government employs only, else there is no age limit in private firms. That is voluntary.

Here in Brazil the workers will retire when they're sixty (female) and sixty-five (male). If you're a teacher you'll retire with thirty-five worked years and if you work in dangerous works with twenty-five worked years.

well i would say the usual age a person retires in my country would be between their sixty's through their seventy's mainly because some old people just can't take the poor hard frustrating job anymore ! i really do feel sorry for those who have to retire and have to quit their job and their life also not only that but some people don't even get a big enough check when they retire to support the family members that they've been taking care of with their jobs ! retiring does suck but hey, we all have to do it someday..........

as i have learned, retirement age is 60 here in our place. but some retirees can still go to work, like lawyers can still practice as long as they can. some personnel can still do works like coordinators or advisers even after they retire.
