at the mercy of spell check

Do you find yourself at the mercy of your spell checker. I do rely on this and often have to still use a best guess when presented with the choice of the word I wish to use. What I really need is one more step, if I could only click on the word to get a definition and then click one more time to replace the mess I've already written. Anyone else want this tool?

Nope, I don't really use it. If something gets underlined so I know I made a mistake, I just fix it.

On my company e-mail and on my web browser, it will tell me if I type a word in that isn't in the database and then I can decide how to fix it. But I don't have full out spell check turned on, nope.

You have something that does the same duty as spell check, but it doesn't tell if you have chosen the correct word does it? Thanks

That tool would be so useful. I heard someone else on mylot say that do the "their" instead of the "there" (or they're lol) that you wanted. It's so annoying and hard to catch. It may account for as much as 25 percent of all of my typos. lol

Regardless of what system you use, it's a good idea to read your discussion before you send it. I try to do this but sometimes get in a hurry and forget. Thanks

Generally, no, I do not need more than what I have. I find it really ironic when I know more words than spell check and I have to add a word to their dictionary. I guess I was always a wordy smart aleck.

The spell checker come very handy to me especially when I write my discussion directly to the screen and there is no longer the need to draft it on papers. The spell checker alert me when my spelling is wrong but like you said it lacks definition but that can easily be solved by double checking the meaning in the net. Everything is easily accessible now through the net.

Yessum! I would love that. Even plain spell check misses properly spelled words used incorrectly or put in the wrong place, so I would like mine to have what you've mentioned, plus grammar check! Karen
