I would like to know how my fellow myLotters react if neighbors park their motorcycles outside your gate. They are not blocking the way though but are parked on the sides. What do you think you should do when this happens?

Hiya MMT, At the very least here if someone is annoying others in that way parking and leaving big spaces for example in between Cars he usually get his motorbike scratched badly or damages on the tyres or other. Of course no one is going to admit that they would do that but even the most seemingly nice person well mannered and dressed has done that kind of thing in the past and would still do it. We however get lot´s of lovely little fingerprints of little fingers on the windsreen of the Car but we don´t protest as we know the little kiddies love this kind of Car. I have seen the little kiddies peeking in through the windows of our car and stay there for ages and making comments about it but I don´t tell to go away I just leave them to their chatter (grin). Take care all. Sue.xxx

Hi LAI, Yes, very funny. Not just children but adults and ladies who put even put on their lipstick in front of the car windows.

Hi LAI, My grin to what you said. I have experienced people who stand beside the car and used it as mirror. Some combed their hair facing at the window without knowing someone is inside and laughing at the sight. Others try to make faces as they mirror themselves in the window. Sometimes I wonder if they ever saw us from outside as it is a one-way tint that we have.

Take the key and ride it off~ LOL First, talk to your neighbour. if he/she refuse, believe me, park your motocycle outside his gate just as what he did, and i bet he will get really annoyed. if he doesnt, well, try to park your car just beside to your motocycle(side by side). if u own a bus or a lorry, do the same as your car. LOL

Hahahaha, but I don't know how to ride motorcycles. I think I cannot do that. In the first place, I am just annoyed of their sight in front of the gate. Aside from a little effort to really slow down in going in and out because of the parked motorcycles, there is no other problem attendant to it. Should there be one in the future, I will advise them to move out especially that it is our private property they are using.

Hi, moneymakingtoday. If it bothers me that much, I will kingly ask them to please move their motorcycles from in front of my gate. And if they don't want to move their motorcycle out of the way, and if they give me any kind of trouble, then I will call Law Enforcement on them.

I am sorry, the word kindly was misspelled.

Hi Cream97, Yes, we only have enough patience. And, sometimes, we have to enforce our rights if we think people are taking that away from us. In the meantime, it is not much of a bother to me yet.

there are several options 1)adjust and get over the annoying feeling that vehicles are parked infront of the gate 2)politely ask them to get their junk of your property :P 3)rudely force your opinion if nothing works there is always the "by crook" option....make their tyres flat at night when no one is watching....do it until they realize the ridiculously obvious fact that their vehicle presence is a nausea to others. other special abibities (options :P) include scratching vehicles while passing by let the dog do its work on the vehicle use your imagination you may get a couple of ideas.

Hi Shav9292, Thanks for the options made available to me. I have since done option no. 1. Their motorcycles are parked outside the gate although the property is ours. Only their sight annoy us but this is not a big thing. It is just that we need to be careful not to hit them in going in and out of our driveway. I may exercise option no. 2, if they give me a serious problem in the future. I am ignoring other options that you mentioned but thanks, anyway. Have a nice day.

As long as they were not obstructing my way in or out from my own property, I don't think that I would be able to say anything about it. However, if they were keeping me from having easy access into or off of my property, I would go over to their house and have a conversation with them. They should be considerate about the fact that you need to get into and off of your property, and if they don't then I think that you should file a complaint with the authorities.

Hi Dorannmwin, You are right. They had not obstructed the ingress and egress to the house. I have allowed them to park there as they stay on the side. Besides, the space is not used by us as it is outside the gate. In case I see a problem in the future with this, I will talk to them and advise them not to park there anymore as it is a private property.

I don't have that particular problem, as I don't have a gate, but when people park outside the building along the wall next to the "don't park along the wall" sign I sometimes put angry notices on their cars. Especially if they stand so that I can't get in and out of my parking space without nearly hitting them.

Hi Torunn, Well, you have every right to your reaction because it gives you the problem of going in and out of the parking space. Sometimes people need to be told what they are doing. Sometimes they need to be reminded that they have encroached spaces that many others are making use of. I guess if patience runs out, anybody will surely resort to putting angry notices, too.

I reckon angry notices is better than actually crashing into them. Sometimes people park on my place when I'm gone, once I just parked my car so they couldn't get out and went to the shop. I'm afraid I'm not very patient when it comes to the parking place, but there's very clear notices saying that it is private.

In the US, a person is not allowed to block anyone's driveway or the mailbox so that the postman cannot access it without exiting his vehicle. However, parking on a public street (where it has not been posted as a no parking zone) is open to anyone. We cannot reserve the spot in front of our house for ourselves or our friends. Not sure how this might apply to your situation.

Hi Bellis, I guess it is also not allowed anywhere in the world to block one's driveway. We even have notices not to block driveways posted on gates. It just happens that we own the 2.5m space before actually stepping on the street. We cemented the space and have planted ornamental plants on corners. The sight of the parked motorcycles (on both sides) just annoys me. Other than that, there isn't a big problem on their parking there. Should there be one in the future, maybe I will advise them to move out.

well, I would not be angry but when it makes my car have troubles in passing by and i know they have more vacant spaces in front of their house i would ask who the owner is to move her motorcycles in a gentle way then surely they would understand my side without them feeling being push away.

Hi Neelianoscet, Patience is a virtue. That I had been exercising for a long time for them. Unless they give me a problem, I will tell them to discontinue parking there. Other than a little annoyance in seeing them parked there, I don't have any problem with them at the moment.

If they are not blocking my entrance to get out and are not on my property I have no problem with it. Outside the gate is not your property so they can park there as long as they are not blocking you from getting out. The only thing I wouldn't like is having to hear the noise of the motorcycles when they start them up. That can be quite ignoring.

Hi Lelin, They are not blocking the driveway. The area outside my gate is our property. I have allowed them to park there as, aside from the sight of them being there, I don't see any problem with them doing so. Our house is located not too close to the gate and we are not bothered by the noise as it starts up. Sometimes, we just need to really slow down in going in and out of the gate because of them parked on both sides. If a serious problem arises in the future due to their parking there, I will advise them to move out.

Well, I think I will, go and tell them to move it aside, but if they don't want to, then I will ford through it!

Hi Nautilus, They are parked on the sides. They don't actually block the driveway but we need to drive slow and be careful in going in and out because of their presence. I just let them park there unless they give them a problem. When they do, I will tell them not to park there anymore --- but I think I cannot afford to ford through it.

Hi Codeofuniverse, The motorcycle is parked on the side of the driveway, outside our gate. The property is our property although this is outside our gate. Sometimes both sides are occupied by two motorcycles. I have allowed them to continue parking there for a long time now. Other than the sight of them, there is actually no problem posed by their parking. If ever there is in the future, I will tell them to vacate the area.
