Do you miss seeing the bigger gifts of life?

Do you miss seeing positive side of your life? Let me go a little deep into the topic. Some people have reasonably good health and wealth and yet they constantly complain a lot about the things that they don't have at present. They can work hard towards getting them, that is a different matter but worrying too much on what they don't have is not good. If you don't have a good shoe you can work hard to get it soon. You need not worry and complain about it. You should remember there are people who don't have legs when you worry about shoes... So let us see the bigger gifts of life and cherish them.

Hi What you say is correct. My policy is I always see the people who are in the lower rank than me and not in the upper rank. I think instead of looking at the sky and repent for not fortunate enough to travel by plane like those who are travelling in it, it is better to look down and see the people who are struggling to get one meal a day and think that atleast I am getting two full meals a day

Very true Vijayanths! I believe in seeing the positive things in life and my comment would have been exactly similar to yours [about the lack of shoes ].I hate cribbing of any sort and am always thankful for all the gifts I have.

Hi kala, I think cribbing only makes us constantly aware of what we dont have, and possibly pull out the file of things we dont have in our brain. :) That means, we waste a lot of time thinking about what we dont have, rather than using that time to get at least some of those things that we want now, or what we can have now. :) I too dont like people who crib, and I dont indulge in it. :)

Absolutely true Vandana;I always am grateful for what I have and if I want something I spend my time and energy in trying to make my own efforts in getting it.

You buy many eatables to the child. Still if you fail to get one chocolate to that child, he will say oh! you did not get that for me. But the child will know in it's inner heart that you are getting everything for it. Since it has got a right with you to ask any wish, it will ask. Like that, we too being God's children, ask him many things. We feel we are his children and whomelse we can ask? But God will ultimately know what to give us and what not.

Hi, Buchi as a God's child we can ask him more and more. At the same time we should be happy with what He had given us. You can always ask for more with out worrying and fretting for what you are not having now-that might be the best way of living. Yes, Mylotters has more lady members and I am only happy about it.I will feel the same if men were more. I thank all the mylot ladies and men who contribute their valuable time to respond to my discussions and that includes you as well. Thanks for your Pongal wishes and I sincerely and happily reciprocate the wishes to you and your family.

Hi vijayanths, I already told you I fight with god, as if he was somebody my age. LOL. So I am always nagging him, blackmailing him, if you do this, I will do this. Why should I do this, did you do this for me, and so on and so forth. :) So I cant be a not so complaining person. :) But at home, I have very few complaints. :)

Hi, Vandana,I must appreciate you for you being so close to God,otherwise you can't fight with him so rightfully. God can be our dad, mom, friend and so on... Nice to note you don't have any complaints at all... But you seem to do a big business with God-if you give me this I will give you that- great business indeed. Some people say that you should not ask anything- He will give on his own... Some times we see only the crying child gets the milk... So, now shall I ask remind God my needs and thank Him for whatever He gives me?

I think each one has a personal relationship with god. Asking god the way we are taught from childhood doesnt work, at least for me. :) I think that is like repeating some nursery rhyme. :) I accept him as superior being, and constantly ask him to prove himself. :) I think he indulges me. :) Yes, asking him is not that advisable, as what we ask may not always be right for what is in store for us in future. But who cares. We all have buyers remorse. This is one of them. We can again ask when the bridge comes. LOL.

Good subject! We should always focus on the positive things that we have. That will keep us happy and optimistic. If we focus on the negative things then we will lose our joy and not enjoy the good things that are all around us.

Yes I totally agree. Everyone has their own little worries that tend to seem big or unsurmountable. However, when faced with news like the disaster that has hit the poor Haitians recently... all these personal troubles just seem small and insignificant. there are people who have lost loved ones suddenly, and yesterday on the news there was a boy standing in front of some rubble, saying 'this was my father's house' and another man beside him saying 'we can hear someone who is still trapped inside, but we don't have a ladder to get him out'... all i can do at these times is to pray. to pray that God has mercy, and sends someone to help them fast. the first 72 hours are the most critical in situations like this, and international aid is pouring in but hopefully fast enough. and I also pray that there will be direct channelling of help where it should go, and there will be no corruption and misuse of funds from well meaning donors.

Hi vijayanths, we all know that we humans have a insatiable thirst for more wealth, more health and more everything, and this is where problems starts cropping up.Look at an example, like someone who is poor and needs some clothings to keep himself warm in the cold weather and if someone were to give him the much neede clothes he'll be happy for sometime, but after 2-3 days he'll start complaining that his feet is always cold, so he needs a pair of shoes to keep his totsies warm and so on. So in my opinion, one will never be satisfied with what he has, whether he's a rich man or a poor chap. Thank you.

People are people and they are never satisfied with life. I am too complained, I don't see the blessing I received everyday, I complain because I don't see what I want. And there are so many things I want in life, which all of it are hard to achieved this days. People have to learn humility. There are things that are for us and not for us, if it is for us , it is destined for us it will be possible to happen for us, but some of us do not accept that. I include on that person who can't accept. What I want , I want to have it, eventhough I always failed. Because of these reasons we are blinded. We don't see the good things coming that is for us, but we long for what we need and we get far. I guess we need to accept and be humble in life. And stop for a moment to thank God for the blessings he showered on us.

hi vijay, you are so right! i can't say much about such people, after all the things and comfort they have in their life all they want is for more and small things bug them as if there is a no tomorrow, i am not saying i am perfect, even i complain for silly things at times .. even the crumbs left on the table, we should not waste food! one of the most essential parts of our lives, there are millions out there who don't get to eat properly and here we are just getting 'overfed' .. same thing with water too, we should not waste it.. some people are just so selfish to just think about themselves and not think about the people suffering, a small dirt on their nicely polished shoes get them upset uff . . cut the power supply to their house for a day and they would call the government

For me, the "biggest" things in life are the everyday blessings: a roof over ones head, love, the sounds of the birds, enough to eat...and a pair of shoes without holes in them. Most of us do not have fame and wealth, and yet are very content! And we realize that we are so blessed, so fortunate, compared to so many who suffer loss or lack the basic essentials in life every day. Karen
