In the outdoor cooking section of the Jan/Feb 2010 issue of ARKANSAS WILDLIFE is a recipe for Lost in the Marsh Venison Pie. While the name sounds a bit strange it is really just a venison variation of shepherd's pie (meat and veggies topped with mashed potatoes). My husband is planning to make this tomorrow. Do you like to cook and eat venison?

Yes, I like to cook the venison, but I like it in a stew. I like to take potatoes, carrots and tomatoes to put with the venison. I also like to roast it and baroque it. I just like venison. I guess I can eat it anyway. The meat is suppose to be good for you too. Have a great day.

I know my husband would mix ground beef and venison. We would use it that way, for a healthier diet. We like it and try to use as much as we can, it all kinds of ways.

Venison has less fat then beef, so it is better for you. I make stew also. The ground venison can be used any way you would use ground beef.

When I can get any, I like the variety that eating wild meat provides me.

It is nice to have the variety sometimes. Right now we have enough venison that is will be our main meat until we run out.

I'm not a hunter and don't really know any, so I do have to rely on the generosity of others - unless I can find some in a shop - once in a while I can, rabbit and bison is easier to find tho

So we would probably just call it venison shepherd's pie. Once in awhile someone will give my brother so much venison that he can't eat it all and he'll give us some. Usually venison hamburger or steak. He surprised us this winter with venison sausage.

My in-laws hunt and that is where we get our venison from. We came home from their house after Christmas with a cooler full of steaks and ground venison. I have tasted the sausage but the in-laws don't make any.
