Where are the best paid for writing for beginners

United States

I have tried a couple of on line 'get paid for writing' but they turned out to be a big mess of downloading stuff and creating user accounts to fill in questionaires etc. Does anyone have any reputable resources for where to submit articles, or find paid for writing sites for beginner free lancer's?

Try elance.com .It is a site where you have to bid for jobs posted. There are plenty of writing jobs there. You have to create an account and give a test based on some study material they give.Good luck.

Your welcome. I suggest you check it out because not all jobs posted there are very difficult.

I visited elance, being a beginner... like i am, I am not sure i am skilled enough for elance yet. I kept it in my writer folder in my browser, to check out after i get more information on what actually does make a good freelance writer. It sort of reminded me of an job site, where you have to submit a resume or something like that. I would be interested to find out if i pass without any background beyond my college courses from the 80s. Will keep you posted...who knows, there may be a real job out there i fit into also. Thank you also for that lead.

As others have said, Associated Content and Helium are good places to start. Also look at Factoidz, a rather new place, but I think it will grow. I don't know how well they pay since I just started with them, but like every site, it takes work and commitment. Look also at eHow and read back in this myLot subject because there have been discussions here that might help. You might have to try a few different sites before you find one that "fits."

AssociatedContent was also a very user friendly encouraging site for learning and trying out my writing. Your encouragement to try a few was very useful and assisted me in my approach to just making a 'discovery' and I was not thinking i had to have all my writing and reading time committed to just one. You covered all of my interests in my original inquiry and directed me without fluff. A trooper in comprehensive reading, and most likely listening skills, you earned it! Thank you.

I have been writing for awhile for both Associated Content and Helium, writing sites that pay and are not scams. Others whom I know from MyLot and elsewhere write for Bukisa and Triond. Each site operates in a slightly different way, and the best advice is to pick one and dive in. The more you work with a site, the more comfortable it becomes. Read the suggested guidelines or tips for beginners. Then come back to MyLot and pose specific questions about a site. This is what I did when I was thinking of starting a blog. I asked people for advice about what sites to use, how to set one up, how to link my blog to money making sites. I am still learning, but MyLot has become a great tool to get advice and support. Since coming here, I have found a lot of people from Helium and Associated Content. I write articles for these sites, come to MyLot for advice and suggestions about how to maximize my earning potential or discuss things about the sites. There are specific groups on MyLot for these writing sites, so you can follow what people have to say (or have said already). Good luck with your writing!

I had some problems with Bukisa myself, which is one of the reasons I never pursued writing for the site, but other friends of mine swear by it. With all the writing sites to explore, why deal with issues you don't have to? I forgot to mention Constant-Content, which is another popular writing site.

So i visited the sites suggested...previewed them first, then tried a couple of them. For me the Triond, and Helium were the best for publishing and getting feedback. For developing my skills and learning the different styles that fit me best i really liked their tools, very user friendly. I did enter Buskisa in my browser and the page just wouldn't load. Thanks for the tips.

I am a beginner in writing. I have made an account on associated content because I heard it was good. I posted my article there and it was published in one day. I get paid by how many people view it. I'm still trying it out. But other than that, I wish I can help you, but I can't. Let me know if you find a good website. Thank you.

My favorite sites to write for are helium and associated content. These are some really good sites that you can write for and get paid from them. Helium, is pretty easy though, for me in my opinion. Because they already have the topics that are already available for you to pick and choose from to write on. With this they pay but you have to start earning stars and stuff. Read up on it before you join so you can get a better understanding of how the website works. Then associated content is a site that you can write on any topic that you like and then you get paid on the reviews that you get on your articles and sometimes if your articles are approved for upfront payments then you will get an upfront payment as well.

I liked Helium, Associated Content, and Triond from the whole list of information i recieved from all the responses. I will agree reading up before is helpful too. I am just 'auto pilot join here' sometimes, then regret it. Helium does force you to choose and compare writings and vote or get booted for 'skipping' too many times. I did not have time to really review other articles of writing, i only had time to quickly submit my article, which i donated. So i was a little perturbed to have to read and choose or vote on content of other writers without an option to go elsewhere on the page. But all in all. They had what i wanted, to learn and get feed back, to earn money and get published. Now it is just a matter of which one will do all that the best. Thanks for your input :)

Hi tiffanyeudy, congratulations. This is your first post in mylot. In the first post itself you told the truth that you are not acquired enough experience to say about the discussion. Good. Welcome to the mylot folds and grow with.

Try "Review Stream". You can write brief reviews about a variety of topics, things you come across in your day to day activities, e.g. shopping, restaurants, travel, movies, websites, and so on, and get paid. I have been writing reviews there for quite some time now, and very happy with it. Yes, it certainly is a nice place for beginners too.

Thanks greenline, I will certainly check that out :) my research is taking me longer than expected. I have to just note that the only site I did not have to submit a ton of stuff to get 'on board' was Elance so far. I have not confirmed for myself as a "totaly out side the box" beginner that the others are out. But first glance so far Elance has been the most responsive for real writing work at fare value, with skills tests etc and the process is helping me develop a portfolio of my writing styles which was an unexpected perk. I do worry about the cost, as it does cost win you get a project. I may find a worm in my apple just yet! But thank you for the fresh tip, i needed to get back to looking... My Lots Rocks!
