Do you remember ever signing a petition to effect some change for a cause? What was the petition for? Was it to get some official's attention on a partixular subject? Do you remember if the change took effect? If so, were you happy that you helped to bring about the change?

Yes, I've done it for dozens of times. There are some of them coming regularly on my e-mail. They usually ask me to sign petitions that apply pressure to governments or other organizations in order to save the wildlife or to prevent some humanitarian crises in poorer countries or something like that.

...Hi Biomechanoid, Good for you, somebody has to care. Big companies are all concerned with the bottom line, they are dumping stuff everywhere. Our fish are filled with mercury. I think it was Robert Kennedy, Jr., who said after having some blood work done that his doctor told him, if he were a woman, and got pregnant, the children would be deformed, because he had so much mercury in his blood from eating so much polluted fish. Scary. Take care. Thanks for your reply.

Whenever I can I sign one... it is one of the few ways out there to tell the legislators what the public is actually feeling as they have to put their name on paper. There are relatively few ways to shake your fist and call for change outside of the elections. Watch out for the online petitions as they often have a different agenda than you may want.

...Hi valentinesdiner, That is a very good point you make, about being outside the elections. In addition, not many of us sit down and write letters to them expressing outrage at some of the things they put through in the supposed name of the people. We always seem to get the shaft in one form or another. After this last Supreme Court ruling, I thought about Canada, but I'm too old to think about moving there "o). Take it easy, thanks for your response.

I once was attached to a reality show and my fav. contestant got out. I wanted him back in any way so, i signed a petition to show my negetive view about his exit from the show., but no benefit ever happened, he never came back in the show.

...Hi coolcat, I have heard of networks cancelling shows and the people fighting back, rallying folks to write in, so many people responded, that they reconsidered and bought the show back. It wasn't a petition, but a way of getting people behind a cause. Someone in charge of the show you were on, probably did not want the person to come back or something and kept him off. Thanks very much for responding. Take it easy.

I have signed many petitions throughout my life...however I don't remember the specifics of any of them.
