people claim of earning thousands from data entry jobs but for the past 2 years I have been working online I haven't earned a penny from data entry jobs. Have earned plenty from other sources online but not a single penny from data entry work so are they scams and people claiming of making money from it all farce.

Your are very much right they are mostly scams and I haven't had the guts to try anyone after I was scammed a number of times by these so called data entry sites but hope I will come across something in near future...

I have been working through oDesk for about a year and I can assure you they are legit. It costs nothing to join or to work, and you can work as much or as little as you like. All you have to do is get hired. There are many other jobs on the site other than data entry as well. I make enough money there that I am planning to quit my "real" job in the next few months and work only from home, primarily on oDesk. I don't make thousands and I'm not going to get rich from it, but it pays the bills quite nicely. If you want to read more about oDesk and how to get hired, check out the blog link under my profile pic.

I have worked on oDesk for about a year. If I wasn't working full time, I could be making more, but I have turned down opportunities due to lack of time to do the work. Right now I am saving so I can quit work, and then I will pick up more oDesk work. It's a bit of a risk, but I think it will work based on my experience with oDesk so far.

How long have you worked for oDesk? I ask because I'm wondering how long it took you to get to this point of being able to quit your full time job.

firemom, Thanks for your post. I have gone to your blog and it looks like it will be very interesting to read! I am going to look into odesk because I have recently left the online industry in which I worked eight years. I also sent a friend request to you! Thanks!

Unfortunely, there are not alot of legit data entry job out there, but everyone wants one. So the scammers come out and create websites to prey on people's emotion. www.guru.com like www.odesk.com is a place where you can big on some small data entry jobs and then work up a reputation in their system. livework.com and crowdclowd.com are new ones. I do understand your need to make some extra money at home. I have been working for several call centers for a few years now at home. Mostly early morning and while the kids at school because I need to keep the house somewhat quiet when doing it. It is legit work and there is decent money to be made. http://wahjobs.blogspot.com has a listing of some of those companies.
