Why do you think students do not like school?

To many rules? Kids don t like to be there just because they don t like history, math, literature? Why do kids dislike school? Our brains make us curious and interested in exploring new things. Than why kids don t like school?

I think most people, especially children, have a deep resentment towards being forced to do anything. I am in college right now as a biology major but all I read outside of school is history and literature, neither interested me much back in high school. In other words, now that I am essentially done being forced to read and learn about those things I can't help myself but absorb all I can. Maybe I'm just an idiot though...

Maybe mature must think that is important children to be left first to learn what they like, and beside it and learn something about the general culture. Often they are forced to learn something that is not useful in life.

some schools focus on discipline and kids are force to follow all the rules and regulations. kids who study in this kind of schools tend to dislike going to school. but some schools are focusing on kids talents and creativity but still have several critical rules and regulations to follow. Kids in this kind of schools will feel motivated to go there everyday and they will very unhappy when there is public holiday. It's just the way school implement lessons though

Imposed rules often do not want young people to learn. Who like rules? no we do not like if they are imposed

I think that people, especially younger students, have problems with school because they are being forced to go, and forced to learn about certain topics. I did not like school, because i did not like being forced to learn about things that were not of interest to me. Now I am on my own, and can do what I want.

Its wrong because so many parents don t let children learn what they like more. Parents often want their children to learn what they like, not what will children learn because is own choice

I think a lot of kids dont like school because of the way they have been brought up, especially in the first 5 years. To develop a love of learning, they need to be surrounded by it in the first five years of their life. They need to see their parents reading, exploring and discussing issues. They need to have their parents promote hopw exciting it is to learn. Also, there is too much bullying in some schools and this really puts kids off.

Students in this modern age find school subjects boring and monotonous. Sitting in a classroom environment with strict discipline to follow has made many students abscond from attending classes. They would rather sit in front of the computer and play computer games. But computer games only give them temporary excitement but doesn't give them the knowledge for a better future.

Students have to sit in a place and listen for the classes, whole day(some 7 hours). Also, some kids not intereted in history, few are the enemy to maths. Apart from this, teachers are giving homeworks too daily. Then some parents thinking school education is not enough and sending them to private tuitions.See how kids have time to play? so only, I think.

Ohm Ice, I'm sure you remember... Sitting through classes that were boring and seemed irrelevant. Following rules that seemed both oppressive and ridiculous. Feeling caged, since everything had to be ruled by the clock and the bells, and your movements and actions were so strictly restricted. Just wanting so very much to be somewhere else, doing something else...!!!

When I was in school, what caused me to dislike it was the favoritism that the teachers showed to certain students. Also, the teachers didn't make the subject interesting and there were some that never really taught. They'd come into the classroom, tell us to read certain pages and would leave the room. You can't call that teaching. There were also teachers that seemed to delight in embarrassing certain students.

children are often scolded by their teachers so that they are not schools, while at home they are always shouted at by their parents told to study diligently. They are forced to continue to learn, while they also need games and entertainment. As a child they are able to learn everything easily, but if not from the child's want to learn will is hard to do. And, we cannot force the child to do what we want and not see what they want.

I think it's mainly down to the monotony, rules and the fact that they are forced to do stuff they would not choose to do nor have an interest in, which is why people seem to enjoy places like college and university more.

Kids don't like school maybe because they get bored of long hours of lectures and it is not as exciting as playing games.. Some students have a short attention span and attending long hours of discussion makes them sick. Another thing is that they may dislike their teachers. They may even feel pressured of the strict rules in school and commiting mistakes could put them in humiliation and their parents could get angry with them and might as well punish them.

I agree that with computer games and other stuff going on, many kids would rather be home or someplace else. But I think this is a good lesson for kids to be made to do things they don't like. The reason I say this is because in their early to teen years, this is the only free education many of them will get (if they live in the states and some other countries) and by them seeing this now, it will prepare them for doing what they don't like to do in the future such as having a job they'll hate (because they didn't study like they should have.)

They Don't Like Of It Monotony... Morning-Wake Up, Lesson-Be Quite and Listen... Understand? We All Are Tired From Monotone and Don't Like It. Of Course Maybe There are Few Other Reasons, Like Bad Relationship With Teachers or Class Friends...

I think it has something to do with the teachers, and the school system itself. I don't blame all teachers (because I'm a teacher myself) but some of them just don't give proper motivation to the students.. Personally, I have a teacher who is not that effective in teaching and it just bores us =( Ever since I didn't like school.. I don't know why, but I can say one of my reasons is the school system itself. I just don't like being around with "grade-conscious" students because I believe they're just numbers and it won't really tell who you really are.. Besides, I love "learning" more than school and for me I don't close my life inside school because I know there's more to real life than the school campus. :) And lastly, I don't like being judged based only on my quizzes, class participation because I know those are not really basis of one's intelligence.. :) That's it.. take care and God bless

hi icesmile, in our childhood days we have also behave like that just like now kids are doing, they are accustomed to play, they are more interested to play than to learn, but we have to mix the education while in play itself, then interest will come to them to learn, have a nice day
