i will set up my favorite shows to record automatically and no matter what it will stop it seems right at either the tail end or the previews to the next episode! its driving me nuts. now its not stopping early because it stops right when it turns lets say 4:00 when it ends at 4:00 but the show i guess goes thirty seconds into 4:00 therefore cutting it off.. i could set it to go over a minute when recording but if there is anything i want to record afterwards it will cut off the begginning (i can only record two shows at the same time) is this a common problem? i have comcast cable and their dvr that they have with their cable box and htis is the first dvr i have ever used so i was wondering if this is just something that always happens or maybe some how mine is cutting off too soon or should have the ability to overlap with out cutting anything off or maybe my cable timing being wrong..

I just have it record 5 minutes over and that way we do not miss anything.

I have heard about that happening. I think it would drive me nuts too. Makes me wonder why when I go to Best Buy they have all those television shows for sale when you can just record them at home. Now I know why, the silly DVR's are not doing thier job.

yeah that and they may not have enough memory.. i think mine is an 80 gig which is pretty good i think but this cutting off thing drives me crazy.. i dont understand people that buy all those box sets though! they are so expensive and how often are you REALLY going to watch them? one marathon and i would be done for life!

We have Time Warner Cable and the dvr from them, and we're having the same problem. In fact we've had the problem for over a year now. There doesn't seem to be anything we can do about it either except as you mentioned to extend the show 1 minute past, but that's a pain to do for every show too. I keep hoping they'll fix it because to call takes forever on hold to talk to someone and we just never get around to it. Then also we've noticed some shows are scheduled for like example 35 minutes, so that really messes up recording on another channel, because we currently can only record 2 channels. Technology is wonderful but sometimes the little things can really mess it up.
