Friends, there are many growing companies which make very high quality and excellent digital cameras like Canon,Sony,Philips,Kodak etc etc.And digital cameras have many types of megapixels. Like some come with 8MP,some with 12MP,and some with more higher. and this MP only decides the quality of zooming n all. So guys,i wanna know that what is the megapixel of the latest digital camera used by you?? Mine is 12 MP. and the company is canon ...

I have used Olympus 12 MP for several months now. Before that, I used Panasonic 7 MP. If I'm not mistaken, the gap before I buy Olympus is about a year. But mega pixels has grown too much. At the time I bought Panasonic 7 MP, cameras with 8 and 9 MP are booming. And right now, 12 MP is standard for digital cameras. It is only a year ! I can tell that even if I have 12 MP camera right now, I only use 3 MP, same as I used to use with Panasonic. I wonder is it really worth it to expand MP real fast?

Oh, so sorry. I made a huge mistake here. I shall say my digital camera is 5 megapixels.

My cameras range from 10Mp to 18Mp, but don't be mislead: more pixels only mean better pictures if the camera is properly designed to capitalise on them. You have to take into account the size of the sensor, the size of the individual sensor sites, the space between them and the software in the camera that supports them. On a full frame DSLR, 21 megapixels is great. On an APS-C SLR, it is a potential disaster, and on a compact camera it is useless! In fact, Canon took their top-line G10 (Expert Camera of the Year in 2009) and reduced the pixel count from 14.7mp to 10mp this year, because of the noise generated by the high pixel count made the camera unsuitable for low-light use.

Pixel Quality higher than 7 is already considered as a good pictures. I'm still using REBEL XT or the 350 D in canon and yes it is a professional DSL cam with battery-grip and all and wouldn't you believe it is only 8.5 mega pixels? The picture quality and the sharpness is still very good. That is all.

my digital camera has 7.5 i think.. and my phone has 2mp.. but the other day we were taking pictures and my friend who had bought a new phone with 8.5 mp.. (can't remember how many mp but i know it was higher than my digital camera's mp) took the same pictures and when we both loaded it on facebook.. my digital camera with 7.5mp took better pictures. i guess it was because phones take slight more compact size picture compared to digital camera but since we're talking about mp.. my conclusion is mp doesn't matter much. hahaha. 7.5 mp camera is still good.

Thank you for your interesting question.About 5 years ago I had a Sony Cybershot Camera and it had 5.1MP, adequate for my needs and extremely easy to use. Eventually that broke but, because of the way Sony keeps replacing its products I was unable to buy the same model, so had to buy another Sony Cybershot that was a 7.1MP, something like that. It was higher anyway. Which camera do I like best? Well, I took more photos with the first one because of its ease of use and the quality of the pics on my computer were excellent. Whenever I tried to download the 7.1 pics the quality was a tad fuzzy (probably because of my screen resolution of my monitor) so I had to change the camera settings to a 5.1MP like my original camera lol. So, yes, I preferred the lesser MP camera, which is interesting isn't it?

Mine is 8 MP, I'd like to have 10 but more is really quite pointless unless you have very good optics which you don't have with a normal point and shoot, and not always with an DSLR either as they are quite expensive. But it is a very easy to sell cameras by saying that 12 MP is better than 10 or 8 MP.

WOW! 12MP is good enough to have best quality pictures. Plus, the brand that you had, Cannon. Mine is just 7.1MP Ixus 70, also by Cannon. This is my first digital camera which I bought 3 years ago.

Nice to see that you also uses canon camera as i use..i am using CANON POWERSHOT 720IS it is a 8MP camera and i am very happy with it.this is the only camera i brought up till now, I don't know much about the good photography but i think CANON and NIKON are good for the photography is concerned and for other regarding to the formfactor and ease of use i think SONY is good in the consumer camera range as they are compact, slim n *** and easy to use.
