My three year old son is very musical. He loves banging at my synthesizer and guitar. Can anyone suggest the best age to start learning and instrument, and also reccomend the best intrument for that age.

I think it's good if you start early. In our community, Chinese usually sent off their children to piano/singing/ballet/martial arts classes when the kids are 3 years old, and when they're older, say, 5 years old, they will see which of the followings are more towards their child's talent, and keep that ones, and if the kids don't show any interest, they will withdraw them from the class. And the kids will usually end up going to only one class that they really like, and by the age of 12, they will become professional/good enough in the field chosen. I myself was sent to piano lesson since I was 5, without knowing that it's actually my talent or interest, and I only realize it when I was 15, which is 10 years later. Good luck with your son!
