Are you a homemaker?

Most of the members I have as friends on here are women so this discussion is actually for them. Are you a homemaker? Do you like to clean house and take pride in it? Do you enjoy redoing a room? What do like about it? How does it make you feel?

Would be a store if her products were in here but its all the paper work and things she has to keep from all the poeple under her and what the people order and all kinds of paper wokr. The kitchen is where she works when orders come in and the books she has to pass out!. SHe wants hubby to build her a room or shed out back to keep it all in and that would work if she had air out there. to keep things from melting like the lipsticks lololol

I am a Home Maker, but honestly making sure that my kids are taken care of ALWAYS comes first! Once they are good for the day (have eaten, showered, etc) then I worry about cleaning. I LOVE the way the house looks when it's clean, and I love the feeling I get after I have done a great job! I also love when my hubby compliments me on something different I did with the house (moved something to a better place, or if I try a new dish or something for supper as I am constantly recipe searching online).

That's what I have been doing! Trial and error! If it's a hit then I keep the recipe and if it's a disaster then I don't keep it! Tonight we are just having spaghetti though so no new recipe there! My family and I LOVE the way I make spaghetti!

I remember when I was young and had my first husband to take care of . It was all exciting and was always trying new recipes on him. Fun!

Other than cooking and doing laundry (which the machine does, I don't really do), I'm not a domestic goddess. I really would rather do anything besides housework.

Never had any kids, they sure would come in handy when I do jams and jellies. I helped my Mom do that when I was young. I tease my friends that I need to borrow their children.

I am not either. I am glad I don't have to do much of it anymore. I figure I put in my time and my daughter and her two kids do most of it. I usually do what they fail to or don't do to my specifications.

Yes, I am a stay-at-home mom, and I'm most likely going to be for a while. At least, that's the way things may go. It's not always easy for me to do cleaning and things like that, as it's not something that I've always been good at, and it can be sometimes difficult to do a lot of it at once with a three-month-old daughter. It's a challenge for me, but it's something that I'm working on. I'm trying to improve.

You are becoming rare. Not too many stay at homers now days. You're lucky. You have a three month old daughter? Take lots of pictures. They grow so fast. Enjoy!

I don't stay at home but I do like cleaning my house and decorating. It makes me feel more comfortable when everything is clean and smells nice.

I agree! I love the feeling I get knowing everything is clean and smelling awesome! I also enjoy decorating too! My hubby is a little bit of a control freak when it comes to moving furniture so usually he bickers and moves it back to where it was or I move it back so I don't have to listen to him bicker about it anymore, BUT once in a while he throws me off and says he likes it there and it actually stays there!

No I don't like cleaning & no I don't take pride in it.... I was raised by a slob! But I don't let things get like my Mother did! I like redoing a room if you paint it and buy new decor ect.... sure but being home makes things hard due to a lack of 2 full time incomes it's not easy to afford extras.

I'm a stay at home dad but I don't redo too many rooms. I take care of the house and the kids while my wife works. I love having things clean and in order and when they get messed up I get help to get them back the way they should be. I take pride in my temporary residence. Its not just for the ladies.

I am a stay at home mom, and will be for the next 4-5 years at least, due to me being pregnant again. So, I am responsible for taking care of the baby, cleaning the house, cooking the meals, doing the laundry, and anything else that makes my husband's life a little easier. Since he works 10-11 hour days, and barely gets to spend much time with us, I don't like him having to "work", once he gets home. I like having a clean house, but right now we need to do some re-organizing, since our house is so small and we're getting ready for another baby. Overall, I don't think I could work outside of the home as long as I had small children in my house. I honestly don't think I'd be a homemaker if I didn't have kids. I loved working before we started a family.

Yes, I am a homemaker. I became sick a few years back and it was just easier on me and my family for me to be a stay at home and while it was difficult to get used to at first but now I really enjoy it, while I realized that there are still quite a few people that look down on people that stay home but I love that fact that I am able to be here for my family every day when they really need me. I think I would honestly say if I had a choice I would still stay being a homemaker, it just works better for my family.

With all the technology now days there is no reason to look down on a woman who stays at home. I am disabled and on SSD and I enjoy being a freelance writer and being able to write when and if I feel like it. There are several sites you can go to to find work and enjoy other women out there as well.

I am a homemaker and will also be a full time grad studnet starting next month. I clean house at least once a week and I cook six nights a week. I make money on here and will also be launching an online store sometime next month. I make bath salts, bath soap, mosaic ornaments and dough ornaments. I am hoping to take a course in jewelry making if I can afford it.

A local craft store might be cheaper then a local community college for taking jewelry classes. Although nothing beats free info online!

I'm retired and live alone but I still think of myself as a homemaker. I'm making a home for myself so I feel as if that qualifies me. I can't say that I like to clean house but I do it because I like to live in a clean place. I'm not nor have I ever wanted to be "house-proud". I just feel that there are so many other things that I'd like to be proud of. Neither can I say that I enjoy re-doing a room, just for the sake of re-doing it. However, I really enjoy my environment and things that are important to me. So, from my perspective, being a homemaker is a very individual role and it's okay for women to define it in very different ways.

I so agree! I think that women need to be able to define it as they wish so that they will be comfortable with the 'label'.

Is a freelancing is part of home making? I earn money at home, clean the house, cook for my husband, do the laundry and dishes. Sometimes I do feel inferior of being a home maker or freelancer as my job don't earn that much money as normal jobs do. But I love what I'm doing and I love to stay at home. I like redoing rooms. I redo my living room once in a while, especially when I'm really bored:)

I do like stuff like that a lot, but I am not exactly a full time homemaker, since I work fulltime, so I only do all that stuff in my spare time. It does not mean I like it any less though! (Not sure I would like to be at home all the time to do these things though. I like my work too!)

I take alot of pride in the way my house looks. Sometimes i wonder why i clean as much as i do when there's noone here but me & really don't have much company anymore. I guess old habits are hard to break. I don't redo rooms at all, never have. When i put it somewhere that's where it stays.

yes, I am a stay home mother. my primary duty are cleaning the house, washing, ironing, cooking, and caring my husband and my children. I don't have a maid so I do all the domestic job by myself. It is tired of course but I feel pride if I can handle it. just do what should you do. make it fun.

I am not much of a homemaker. I get tired of cleaning all the time. I like doing business. But I feel the house is clean if I am the one who clean the house rather than the helpers. But I like earning money more.

It's like I told my granddaughter, I cleaned and cooked and did the momma thing now it is your turn to clean and cook and take care of me! And she does! And does a good job. I think I taught her right.
