Okey, most of my friends call me "religious" since they always caught me listening to Christian Music.. reading the bible.. they don't hear me saying profane words .. but I really don't accept that thought.. because when you say "religious" you are referring to "religion".. meaning they are saying that you are very devoted to your religion.. and I do believe that it's not the religion that can save us but it's our faith to God and either we obey her commands.. how about you.. do you accept the thought "religious"..?

Hi canielynne. If someone refers to me as religious I try to use that as an opportunity to say I have a relationship with God and not religion. I also try to let them know that placing trust in a religion can be da- - mn - -ing.

I think my knee jerk reaction is to balk. Being religious has a negative connotation somehow, like engaging in mindless rituals and blind faith. In a sense, I am religious if you think of Christianity as a religion. I submit myself to its principles and practices. On the other hand, I think of my faith as relationship-based. I do the things I do because of my relationship with God. I mean, if I act a certain way because of my relationship to my family, that's not being religious, right?

i don't really accept the term religious as well... attending church every sunday, pray, reading the Bibles and being active in the church doesn't make me feel religious at all... to me, religion is about your personal relationship with God and not only doing some religious practices... a person can be really religious but he/she might not have a personal relationship with God... take care and have a nice day...

sounds like religion to me. I don't understand why there are so many Christians that insist it's not a religion. if you're believing in a deity, that's a religion. often people say, "it's not a religion, it's a relationship with *insert deity name here*" and that doesn't make it not a religion. I have a very deep relationship with my Gods. I consider myself religious, because I believe with my whole soul in my Gods. religion SHOULD be a relationship with whichever deity or deities rings true to you.

when people say that we are 'religious' they probably don't understand that Christianity is a lifestyle of relationship, not just a religion. When i say someone is religious or pious, I would mean that that person keeps to the tenets of their religion (like observing all the religious cermonys and festivals very strictly). But with christianity I would rather someone say that that person is a very faithful disciple. I guess that would capture what we are trying to be better!

Allot of people say Christians are religious, but not really knowing what it means or refer to. Religious is basically just a name of one whole group. Relationship is the best name for us. We have a relationship with Jesus and God not a religion. I really dont like to be labeled religious either. But for those that dont know any better, it is hard for others to realize the difference between the both.

Hi canielynne :) Just like you, I am also one among my circle of friends who's often misinterpreted by being so religious. :) Well, to admit I'm not that religious that I go to mass daily, but among my friends I am the most religious because most of them don't necessarily go to mass often like I do. Regarding these people, I'd say that they may be right that "faith in God is what will save us", but I still believe in the fact that everything should be balanced. A person can say that he doesn't have to go to church because he's reading the Bible all by himself, or he's praying during bed time, but as a believer still it is our duty to go to church especially in holy days of obligation and follow other religious practices as well. Why? Because it's easier to say we love God when we talk to him personally, but we forget the fact that love consists more action that words. So if we really love God, I believe more than praying by ourselves it's still important for us to visit him in church by attending mass especially on Sundays. This has been my personal belief however. Everyone is still entitled to their own beliefs and I totally respect that. I hope everyone who reads this will respect my beliefs too. :) Take care and God bless :)

We are not been save through church or religious thing but through Jesus Christ who make our salvation through offering his life in the Cross. Our sin has been taken away & it's our responsibility not to make a sin anymore.Accept Jesus in our life & show the faith towards our fellow or neighborhood. God saw our faith with good deeds. No matter what is your religion but if you have Christ & accept him . We are brother & sister, co-worker through Christ!

hi there! i also experienced your situation way back when i was in high school. my classmates thought that i was religous and I also did not like the idea to be called religious. Yes you're right that religious is referring about religion. And we know the fact that religion cannot save us nor can it bring salvation to us. Only JESUS can save us - by accepting HIM as our personal Lord and Savior.
