Which do you prefer: Laptop mouse / optical mouse?

Philippines

So which ones do you prefer? The laptop mouse, or the conventional optical mouse? Personally it depends on my purpose. If I'm just going to type (like this one), I don't mind using the laptop mouse. However, when harvesting my crops in Farmville, I don't think the laptop mouse is advisable, so I use the optical mouse instead. =) But I just got used to the optical mouse and I use it in my laptop =) How about you? Which do you prefer and why? =)

I like to use the standared mouse. I have a laptop and I must use my touchpad to move the curier. I do miss the mouse and the desktop computer I once had. it was too old and out of date so I now only use my laptop. I like using the mouse becase I can keep my hand and finger on it as to where I have to move my had and fingers on the touchpad and it is stay there it can mess up my work on the computer.

I am okay with both kinds but, if it requires a lot of detail, I think a mouse would be better than that of a touch pad that most laptops would have just under the its keyboard. It would be hard for me to do some editing in an image if I was just using a touch pad. I think a mouse is really essential for most of the things I use with the computer.

I guess your friend happens to have a very nice precision with the touchpad. I just happen to have more efficiency with a mouse. Depends on how well you can use both to consider if time is really wasted. Your welcome

Mind you, my friend is very good in editing images using only the touchpad. I think we can do that too if we only take time to practice. Hehe. :) But I think it's such a waste of time when you can use the optical mouse instead. Thanks for responding to my discussions and God bless. X

I like using the optical mouse but every time I let my kids use my laptop, they prefer to use the one on the laptop. I think I can do things quicker with an otical, they think its faster with the built in mousepad. I guess it all depends on how we learned. Maybe I am just 'old school'

You got it right, it definitely depends on the situation. One consideration would be your location. If I was on the sofa and just surfing the net or doing word processing, I don't mind the laptop mouse. But if I was on a proper desk or table and there's room enough, I'd plug in an optical mouse even if I was just doingt the same things I mentioned. Now, the only time I hate laptop mouse is when I need to work on my photos and stuff. It's difficult to manipulate stuff with just the laptop mouse. but that's just me :)

Some people can edit photos excellently through the laptop mouse/ touch pad. I just can't figure out how they'd do that.. :) thanks for the response verabear and God bless ;D

You're welcome :) Good for them for mastering the laptop mouse. I guess if you use it often enough, you can really do a lot with it. I mainly use a PC and only occasionaly use a laptop so no wonder I am not at ease with their built in mouse :)

Well friend! I like conventional optical mouse most as I feel more free working with this one than the laptop mouse. Moreover, I've seen many people who feels comfortable in working with an additional optical mouse attached with their laptops. Doesn't it prove that the optical mouses are more useful for working on a PC.:-)

It depends. If I'm just surfing the web then I use the mouse that is built into the laptop. However, if it were for something like games then I'd want to use an optical mouse instead. I have to admit that it took some getting used to with the one on the laptop, but now I have no problems with it when it comes to using it for most things. And I especially like not having to worry about having to use an external mouse as it can take up additional space. Space which may not be easily available making it more troublesome when it comes to using a laptop, at least by what I've noticed. It's just as well that I don't use an optical mouse with my laptop as my special needs child is fascinated by them and would probably take it from me anyway. LOL Happy mylotting!

i also prefer handheld mouse with a laptop mouse. i can work without a mouse with a laptop, if like you said, just encoding or typing. but there are some task that you can't really work with, without a handheld mouse. i once go to facebook and rearrange my pictures. but when i was trying to move one picture from the bottom, trying to get it to the top, the picture scrolls down, instead of up. but when i use a handheld or optical mouse, i did it fine.

I agree neildc, but you know what my friend can even edit images from Photoshop using only a touchpad =) I guess it's just a matter of practice :) Believe it or not while responding to posts in this discussion i practice myself using touchpad =)

I definitely would prefer the handheld mouse over the laptop mouse because it's much easier to navigate. The laptop mouse can really slow me down especially when I'm trying to drag something. :)

I prefer the conventional optical mouse, like you that's the one I'm use to. Even got one for a little extra. I can use the laptop toggle stick, or the touch pad; just not good with either one.

Hiya cecillecarmela, Optical Mouse is my favourite I don´t much care for the other and I don´t use a laptop at the moment either. To write and surf I use the optical mouse much more practical for me.

Always optical for me. The laptop mouse is just to slow to use and the optical mouse you don't have to move your hand so much. Probably good for your hand's muscles, nerves and such too.

I prefer to use an optical mouse because it is grabby and I am comfortable using it other than the Laptop mouse. Maybe because I am already used to it. And you are right, it is really hard to harvest if you are only using the Laptop mouse.

I use the optical mouse with my laptop. This is the one I prefer. It makes it easier on me. I do not like to use the laptop pad, I get angry because it does not seem to want to do what I want it to. Happy posting.

I prefer using optical mouse, I feel that it more smooth to use. I do not like to using laptop mouse, it always make me make some mistake when I using it, so I don't like it, may be I am a little rude with it.

It depends on the situation if i needed to play a game online or offline i would need a optical mouse, if would be better to play it on the desktop than the laptop, But if i was stuck with a laptop i wouldnt really feel comfortable using the built in mouse because it's slow, i feel really lazy just trying to move it inch by inch and its not sesitive enough that it moves fast so i dont like it. So if i had a choice, Optical mouse is the way to go!

how do you think about the track point device not touch pad on laptop ? I was told that it's more easier for user to move the mouse pointer on the screen freely. so have a try this one, it's good for you all .
