How often do you strike up a conversation with someone seated next to you? Like when you're traveling alone, what do you usually say? does it helps you?

it depends on the situation. I will talk to the person sit beside me in class or seminar but not at outside. If somebody sit beside me and start to say something with me, it make me feel that he or she surely want something from me, probably there is a scam? who know? I will try avoid talking with stranger, it really expose yourself to risk or what so ever..I prefer not to take that kind of risk unless I really needed to.

Well that could be good, you seem to be very cautious getting friends outside. It could be helpful. Me, I sometimes to talk to a stranger, but I'm very observant and I have strong intuition and know if the person is good or bad. Anyway thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your weekends!

i do that just a few times. And i always choose who i want to talk to. But i never start the conversation first. If someone, next to me, is a guy, handsome, and he's starting to open the conversation, i will give him a good feedback. hehehe.. But if i sit next to scary guy, i will never talk to him. I ever had a bad experience, when i was in the bus, traveling alone. There was an old man, sitting next to me. He started to open the conversation, and because i'm a nice young girl, so i responded him. In the beginning, we had a good conversation, but after, suddenly, he started to hold my hands. Urgh... I really hate that, n then i moved to another seat. From that moment, i start to choose which stranger can talk with me.

Oh, that's quite scary. I'm lucky I never encounter that kind of experienced. That old man must be a pervert. Well anyway it's good that you learn to be more cautious on responding any conversation. I might as well love to talk someone who's real good looking and nice guy. Anyway thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your weekends!

Hey careguarden! I do sometimes talk to strangers if I am travelling alone! I was flying to Florida in July and I tried to make small conversation with the girl sitting next to me on the plane! She really wasn't that interested in talking and more interested in sleeping and was kind of young and weird! But, when we were delayed for an hour and circuling water I did say I thought this was a bit odd and she did say a few things to me and went back to sleep! I am not a "great flyer" to begin with so was not very comfortable! The pilot wasn't telling us what was going on so I was not feeling to safe and secure by now! Turns out that the weather in Florida was bad and we were entering storms! When we did finally land over an hour and a half late we did land in quite a bit of rainy stormy weather! It was scary, but nice to hit ground safely!

When I was young I would strike a conversation with a stranger, too. But these days I have come to value solitude a lot - a sort of "far from the madding crowd". For that I have very very rarely felt lonely or depressed.

I never do, at most people ask what time is it to me and not ask more than that. It depends if he intended evil to me, I did not speak to strangers. I usually avoid strangers, because the strangers could commit armed robbery while I'm walking alone.

I never do it, it's too scary for me. I hope it will be over soon but I am not sure.
