Do you say "Hi" to strangers?

I never say "hi" to random strangers I pass by in the street because I do not knwo them, so I don't really have a reason for saying hello. However, if I pass somebody by that I do know, or they say hello first, then I will definitely greet them in a positive manner.

java09, When i taking a walk and encounter stranger i never to used say "Hi", unless they smile .

I'll talk to anybody at any time, any where! I'll strike up conversations in line at the store, telling a woman in front of me how great her shoes are, where did she get them, or commenting on the weather or something they bought. I get a lot of smiles that way and also some for myself! I'll say hello to anyone, especially if they speak to me first.

Hi Java, I feel it is a kind of chemical reaction, with some people you feel like communicating because they seem so pleasant and nice. But there are others who are not exactly friendly at least to outward appearances. I go for a walk in the park near my home and many ae regulars there.I smile at a few because they are pleasant, but ignore the others because they do the same to me ....All the best and happy mylotting

its really generous of you to say hi to strangers on a walk! when on a walk, i see many strangers, and i can't say hi to all of them, so, i just walk.i sometimes smile at someone attractive.lol but most times i walk silently. and i only say hi back if the other says someting to me. or if i need help from him/her or if i need to talk to him.

I'm also shy, but I always try to say hi to people. It actually upsets me when they don't respond! If I didn't say anything then fine, but at least acknowledge my courteousness. I'm just trying to brighten someone's day, as well as practice a wee bit of social interaction.

! hi, Java09! well, I say "Hello" to strangers only if they say it to me first, because I am a very shy person and never make the first step. When i was a kid, 17 years ago, I said hello to many strangers, the most of them elderly, because i thought it is necessary to greet these people, and I still think it is so, but I become shier and don't make it anymore! ~

Hi Java. We say hello to all kinds of strangers most will say hi back only once in a while will one not say a word but will nod their heads in recognition. I like talking to all who knows they may stop and start up a conversation and I might learn something new. I am always up for learning new things. When we drive down the road we wave to people we don't even know. I think it is a good thing to talk to people you don't know. We are carpenters and just stopping and chatting with strangers has gotten us a few jobs too. So we will keep talking to strangers and might even stir up a friendship with someone. Keep saying hi Java you never know who you will meet.
