Well, I have moved from the age of using DVD's and CD's to USB devices! I think that the discs are a very old fashion even though I require them for installing my Operating Systems and I have to mount images in them! The only concern about USB drives is that they can also be the carrier of Virus! But a virus is unlikely to persist in a disc!

You shouldn't wary too much about viruses. Surfing the internet is much more dangerous than those files in your USB devices.

It have been a year since I have used a CD and I have been using my rewritable DVD for a year but anyhow I feel USB drives are the best and it has very long life than the DVD's and CD's.Now I have bought a external hard drive so the requirement for DVD has also minimized and I watch movies by directly connecting it with my DVD player.

I still use DVD's more and a little CD's .. As u said to boot an OS, we do need a DVD\CD But they are going to die soon, as of the new emerging fact Blu ray disc and movies in HD will be fitting in that..

Viruses are as commonly found on discs as in USB devices. Although things can't transfer to an already closed disc. I guess it's "safer". Anyway. I prefer DVDs over USB sticks.

well...i still use the cd's and dvd's quite often in my daily life. while the usb's are of great use, as you mentioned, they can be carrier's of virus. that is a good enough reason for me to be careful about the usb usage.

I don't think dvd's will be obolete anytime soon. Software companies sell their products thru dvds. Movies are released on dvds. Games are still sold in dvds.

I still use DVD's and CD's. I have a dvd player and I enjoy watching movies in our LCDTV than my computer. I use CD to record songs because there will always be a CD player in most household I visit and PC or laptop is not always available. I still bring my USB though

I still use DVD's, but the CD's are already an old story for me. I also have a USB flash device, but use it only to save some projects on it, which I need in my study. I have more than 200 DVD's with burned songs and movies on them, because I am a very big fan of music and movies, just like my cousin, and i am very happy to live by him now. I don't think DVD's are something old fashionable, because many people still use them and the DVD business is very succeed one
