Not the most adorable baby in the world

I know its cruel, but I am sure many people have seen a baby that has made them frown. They are not cute or adorable. I'm not saying that they are not nice babies and everyting. They are just kind of plain to look at. I had a neighbor, who had seven kids, tell me that not all of her kids were adorable. In fact one of her middle children was very plain- her words, not mine. If a friend/family member just had a baby and it was the first time you've seen the child, would you lie, tell the truth or change the subject if they ask you isn't that the cutest baby in the whole world and you thought otherwise?

Hello vjenkins and welcome to myLot. I guess it is as the saying goes the beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. I personally think every baby is cute even in the animal kingdom. We once had some neighbors that had very so called homely babies. They had 5 girls and not one was considered cute by most standards. But all of those girls were beautiful when they got past 2 years old. It is surprising because both parents were rather very plain or even ugly. None of those 5 girls looked at all like the parents. I would never tell a parent that their baby was ugly. Why hurt their feelings?

I guess you can say that not all babies are born equal, hehe :) I totally agree. But in the parents' eyes, each baby should be beautiful still. and when they start doing the cute stuff that babies too, you get used to them and eventually find them to be adorable too. :)

Hi, vjenkins86. I would tell them that the baby is cute or pretty. I would never tell them the truth. My sister-in-law has a daughter and she has very droopy large cheeks. In my opinion, I think that she is not very pretty, but as her aunt, I over look that quality. I still treat her as if she is the most prettiest angel in the world. I know that it is wrong to call someone else ugly. I will not say it, but I will not pretend either. I could never tell the mother or anyone else that her child is plain or ugly. I would have to keep this to myself.

oh, I would probably lie. I am a mother and I know how it feels. In a mother's sight, no child is ugly enough. If a member of a family see that baby as adorable even if it is not, then, I have no right whatsoever to contradict them. They are for sure proclaiming it out of love for that new member. And, for sure, they are not also expecting me to agree nor disagree with their claim. With due respect and affection, I'd rather not say the negative. Besides, baby's look do change as it grows.LOL

Well, it's true when you're saying that. I'm not a baby's fan either, but I do really think that it's wrong to make a frown when you look a baby's face. That's cruel.

Well not all baby's are adorable, that's reality.. But we have to remember that a cute baby for one person could be the ugliest for another.. What I'm trying to say is that how we perceive cuteness or being adorable would vary from person to person.. I would readily agree, if a friend of mine would ask me if their baby is adorable.. Because that's how they see their baby.. I don't want to take that beautiful picture in their minds.. let's just let them be..

hahaha...this is funny but its true! well, not being rude or what but i already seen some babies that don't actually look like babies...huh! i mean they look like baby because they are small but not oh well i can't express anymore coz i might sound really bad here...haha but anyway, i guess, to all parents, their babies will be the cutest baby in the whole world...haha and we can't do anything about it but respect them & be sensitive to their feelings as well...afterall, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so what might be cute to them is not for us... situation like that if i am being asked, i will not say that its not cute or what, its either i will just smile or tell the parents that it looks like them...

Aah, it's hard when an extremely proud mom comes to you with her newborn and looks at you waiting for a "oh my god how cuuute". I usually just try to smile and not to state my opinion, as probably the mother would be really offended by knowing that I think that the baby is not cute. It's better to be cautious...
