Why do you think the poor people get poorer and the rich getting richer?

Both the poor and the rich have 24 hours a day but if you observe how they spend their 24 hours you will find out that the rich work harder than the poor. When you listen to what the poor and the rich talk about during a 24 hour period, you will notice that the poor talk a lot about money, new cellphones, etc.. On the other hand, what do the rich talk about? They are talking about ideas and opportunities. Well, that's what i actually observe here in my country (Philippines). How about you guys, why do you think poor people get poorer and rich getting richer?

Of course people are going to talk that way. Rich feed off the fact they don't have to sweat the little things. They don't have to "work". Making money for them takes little to no effort. And yes poor people work hard, sometimes two three jobs to put food on the table, and keep a roof over their heads. Its not easy. Its not about how smart you are, its all about where you come from. What do you think working hard is? Sitting around trying to come up with ideas to put out on the market to make more money? Or those actually doing the physical labor required to turn those hard thought up ideas into reality. That's hard work. Do you know a majority of owners have never set foot in places they own? Most of them don't know what their employees suffer and complain they aren't getting paid enough. Damn it I'm one of those poor people and I struggle every single day to ensure that I've got a roof over my head at the end of the day. You think I don't work hard? Damn it I do. I may earn government funding, but that doesn't mean I have the luxury to sit around and say "hmm... what can I do to make myself richer? No I have to figure out how to make that money streach in an economy that has the highest unemployment rates in history.

Amen to that Kaylachan!!!! All to often the poor are thought to be to lazy to make it in life when in reality it is the life you are born into (your namesake) that usually determines your status as in poor/rich. I personally think the poor stay poor because the rich keep it and like it that way!

Well I was going to tear into her for that but you did an awesome job. I go to work all day unloading trucks so some rich jerk can make a tidy profit off the stocks he owns in the company while sitting on his yacht. Yea, that's hard work I wish I had money laying around to invest so I could sit back & profit off other peoples labor.

The rich are getting richer because they know how to get rich. They have connections, they can manipulate people, they can control anything with their money. Every opportunity to get even richer are thrown at them. The poor are getting poorer because of the greediness of those rich pigs.

i observe similar thing in my home country as well and i come from indonesia... i am really sorry to say this but some of the poor people (note that i emphasised SOME and not ALL here) in my home country really deserved to live in their poor conditions because they are plain lazy and not trying to do anything to change their lives... on top of that, they can only envy and complaining about the rich but again do NOTHING... when they do something, all that come up in their head is to commit a CRIME to earn easy money... i don't sympathise at all with this group of poor people... but i had also seen other group of poor people who had really struggled and do their very best to make ends meet... i sympathise with them and always pray that God will bless them and change their lives for the better... take care and have a nice day...

I believe that the problem is that often in order to make money one has to have money... money to invest in education or to start a business or whatsoever... without money it is possible to have success anyway but surely it is harder.

Yes you are right. Both the rich and the poor have 24 hours. But I don't think that the rich work harder than the poor or even the poor working harder than the rich. The amount of their work isn't the main cause. I believe its the financial education that they have. A lot of the poor people do not have financial education. While some poor people already have financial education, they are "CLOSE MINDED" to follow it making themselves poorer. And another thing, although I am not sure about this, I think the rich people can't afford... es you heard me right, they can't afford to be POOR. It's not that they are blinded by money or something, its just that they don't want their hard work to go to waste and they want to improve their lives.

hi maiohmai here In the USA its not all that cut and dried as I know a lot of people who are poor who work twice as hard as the rich do, but in low paying jobs, when they get some education a lot of so called poor people do move up to the middle class as education gives them better paying job opportunities. some rich do not work much at all as they have inherited their wealth from hard working parents or grand parents. no there are as many reasons why some are poor and some rich as there are poor and rich people. anybody who spends waytoo much of their money on electronic gadgets that they do not need is in my eyes wasting money they should be saving. Some poor people do not stop to think that every new child will bring more expense and breed like the ever present bunny rabbits.I think we need to educate people on child bearing and family responsibilities

This is a crazy world that we live in! I believe in the idea that you get what you work for! There are no guarantees to this idea obviously but I think the most important thing is to try and move forward, to try and achieve! Some people are born with money in their lap, there's nothing wrong with that but I guess they truly are the lucky ones! Everyone's situation is different I think and I guess we all have to look for opportunities in our own lives! Andrew

Since we both live at the same country, and i do agree with what you have stated in here. Poor people trying to live with material things... Just take those people who were working on a contractual basis. They earn only small salary...and yet,you can see them holding the latest mobile phone. The money they use to buy that mobile even came from loans. Imagine where did their money goes getting their salary. that makes them more poorer...instead of thinking how to be successful and how to earn more money to augment their living, they only longed to have their desires for temporary material things that can give them happiness temporarily also. And,rich people becoming more richer for thinking how to expand their business and always try to venture for new things that could give them money. Anyway..it's not the money that can totally give a person happiness. Eventhu poor people were poor in the eyes of the society...yet,they are those kind of people who had simple wishes and simple happiness in life too. We can never tell that someone is happy and contented with their lives just becoz they are rich...then...money is not a standard to give us happiness.

I do agree that poor people get poorer and rich people get richer. I think this is true because they are giving so much thought to their surroundings. It is easy to worry about money when you do not have any, just as it is to not worry about money. I personally believe the more thought you give to a subject, you attract it.

You are partly correct with your observations, Maiohmai. There are several factors why this case is happening. In the case of the poor ones, the resources are lacking. Even if they have a brilliant idea they can't put it into actual work because they are limited in resources or funding. while the rich can always do it anytime they feel ready to do it. Next,m, don't you notice that poor people are often deprive of having good quality education? Even an intelligent child who is better than the rich one when he's person has little chance to advance because of lack of education. The rich, however, can do anything they want to. They don't need to think how to feed their hungry tummies or where to get medicines if they are ill. Sometimes when you are financially capable of doing and getting anything you need, life is more easier and thus you can move freely to further improve your life. Unlike the poor ones, they have to struggle harder, they need more perseverance, determination and of course, luck and mercy from God to improve their lives... It is a sad reality of life....

Well I think there are a few things that matter here. First of all, it's true that some people just lack the motivation to advance themselves and don't care to do the labor or thinking required to out themselves in a better situation. But then there are the people that bust their butts just to make ends meet and try their hardest but just aren't given the opportunity to succeed. I worked 5 years in a steel foundry, breathing dangerous fumes and chemicals, working my *** off to make a somewhat decent living. There were all kinds of improvements that i thought of for the area that I worked in, but every single one of them got turned down, unless of course my supervisor took credit for it. You see, even though I am a hard worker and willing to go above and beyond my duty, I have not yet found the opportunity to get somewhere beyond where I am. Yet I have worked with people that have had everything handed to them all of their lives, never having to worry about paying their own bills or supporting a family. A lot of it comes down to being born into the right family, at least in the US that's what it is. Of course capitalism doesn't help much either, it has a tendency to make the poor poorer and the rich richer. Which is great from the perspective of somebody that has a lot of money to invest. But to the average middle class guy trying to make a living? it sucks.

Personal ability and education background are very important for one's life, poor people can't accept better education so they can't be smarter and richer.

There are so many rason why poor people get poorer and the rich people getting richer. First thing is like what you said rich people more diligint while poor people even they know they poor the become lasy. Second, poor people not smart enought to think like reach people thats why they become poorer because they less educated than rich people. And the third because the poor people don't have awareness about the situation of they life, they feel setisfy with the situation in other side rich people always increase they standard.

Well we seem to look and see things that way. I do see the rich having more opportunity to earn more considering that they have the resources to invest and make more money. But this does not mean that the poor does not have a chance. For as long as their is discipline and the habit of working hard, there is always the chance of success. Sad to note that many people spend so much idle time doing nothing.

i couldn't agree with the point you mentioned. poor people talk a lot about money, and still they stay poor or getting poorer. rich people talk about ideas and opportunities and the stay rich and getting richer. but why am i still poor and getting poorer when i talk about ideas and opportunities? i keep looking for opportunities and share ideas over here, but i can't get rich? what a life...
