One more year to go....

After a long and hard process of making ends meet, paying down some huge debts, and relearning how to actually ive with what I need versus what I want...I am almost there. This is not a bragging thing, this is proof and encouragement to others out there doing the same. Because I know what it feels like when youstart repaying, and feel like there is no end to the endless road of repayment. I have been using a debt consolidation service (Cambrdge counseling) for the last seven years for various indebted accounts. And for those who are skeptical they do not loan you money, they only charge a small fee, help lower rates (for those who do not know how to do this) and are actually there for you when you need them. Like last December I knew one of my accounts was paid down toa small amount but didn't have a statement. I called them and they told me how much it was and how they were going to apply the money to the others....they were on top of it with me. So I have one more year and with a little patience, a big reality check and hopes that I won't fall into debt over stupid reasons (because I know lifge happens) maybe never again fall prey to creditors. I actually started my savings account this year and once the debts are cleared will sock that monnies in there. Who else is seeing their hard work pay off? Or for those just starting you can vent here about how frustrating it is.....trust me I know. I sitll feel that way at times.

Glad to hear things are going well for you! For us, it is very much a two steps forward, one step back process. Our end is also in sight, though.

I applaud you on your journey to out of debtness :P Actually I am thinking of jumping on debt consolidation myself in the next coming year or so and my new life means more to me than ever to be at ease of my mind from worries. I think financially it is a goal for everyone to be released from the throngs of prison which we call debt but we never really follow through. So I congratulate you once again for doing something for yourself. Have a great day!

Congratulations! It really is a hard process that sometimes makes one feel he/she wants to give up already. But if one has strong will, he/she can do it like you. It is nice that you shared your story with us here at Mylot. This shows people that nothing is impossible. Perseverance is key. I guess a lot of people already learned their lessons the hard way. We should not spend more than we earn.

That's great to here! I am going to start paying down and spending money on stupid stuff that I don't need. I'm tired of being in debt and watching my hard earned pay cheques going to creditors. I just lost one of my jobs so it's going to be hard but like you said if I stick to a plan it can be done. I'm thinking about calling someone that can help it might be the only way out. Congratulations to you and good luck on the hard work!!

I sooo need encouraging right now. In June, my car will be mine and I won't have any payments. Good right? Well, my hubbie is supposed to loose his job soon and he's been helping me with house payments, garbage and other items. With 1/2 the pay we have now, I'm not sure how we'll make it. In 2012, my house is paid off. We just have to make it until then. I've cut back and cut down on lots of things. I think we can cut more, but to get him on board isn't that easy. He has to see that we have difficulty paying bills. Right now it's take the cats to the vet time. We could afford one cat, but we have 2 because when people left, they just left their cats. Called Humane society, SPCA,etc. No one has any space for cats. At 150% to 200% capability. Said they would take this cat when they can. Might be a year waiting list. Everyone who left this area, just left their cats and everyone has too many now. I am not getting enough work per week. 1 to 3 days. My husband's brother is in the same spot and my brother is worse off, only 3 hours a week. If I could just find more work. I'm very happy for you. Congrats. Shows it can be done. I keep hoping that I will get more work. I apply and hear nothign. 60 applicants to one job or more, could be why I don't hear. But I keep trying and sooner or later, it should pay off.

...Hi there, Good for you. I am sure you are proud of yourself for the progress you have made. I have a bill that I have been paying on for years now, something that I didn't even know I owed in the beginning, taxes. I have until October and I will be finished, which will free up money which I think I will act like I don't have and funnel it into a saving account or something long term. Lessons sometimes take a long time, but hopefully we learn. Take care.

Most of us are having hard times nowadays. But we try to keep our chin up and just think positive that someday things will be better for us. It won't help us at all if we just sit down and dwell on our misery. Isn't it. We keep on fighting and never stop trying to win the race. It never stops till our last breath. (^_^)
