Politicans are falling like flies lately. Kennedy, Murthur, now Wilson. True Wilson retired a while back...but still. Most people only know Charlie Wilson thanks to the movie starring Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts called Charlie Wilson's war. He died this afternoon of cardiac arrest. What are your thoughts on this colorful to say the least politican?

It was a good movie. If it was true to life, he was a bit of a partyer, a lover of drink and something of a scoundrel. But he did what he thought was right to help people who needed help. The fact that some of those people turned on the US later, isn't his fault. It's the old adage "no good deed goes unpunished".

He tired after the war to get our country to help rebuild the country for them....but congress would not do it. They should have listened to him...things might have turned out better for all of us they had.

I must say I would not have know who Charlie Wilson was if it was not for the movie. Problem is I have not watched the movie so I really do not know much about him except he was a former Navy officer, Dem Congressmen, and a guy that loved hot tubes.

You really should see the movie. It is really good. There is actually a lot to tell about him. Especially about how did helped defeat the Russians in Afghanistan. His personal life was well.....colorful. Lots of scandel.

Cool. Also you can do a search engine on him. I won't say he was a "good" person. He definately had a wild streak....but he is intersting to learn about.
